Update

Gripper work is not yet done and I haven't done any additional research on my hip "thing". Rather than take the time and possible come up with a misdiagnosis, I'm really hoping that my doctor can give some insight as to what it is and what needs to be done.

YOU'VE GOT STALKERS!!!

Well I 100% understand why...I stalked for a long time many years ago as well. Then I opened my mouth....and you've been stuck with me ever since.

Xygote, I guess I do. Maybe they're sticking around to see if I post about an epic fail.

Egads! Lions, and tigers, and bears and stalkers oh my!

Stuck with you Kree? Nonsense it's more like , which I'll do in person in Ohio.

Update

Gripper work is still not done; I'm now aiming to do so about 5. On a positive note dear son and I had a good time in the gym and he had a fine workout considering it was his first time moving iron in over two weeks. I imagine there will be some DOMS in the days to come. It was a weird time for me as I was there this AM so all I was doing was instructing and talking to him while in my street clothes. There's going to be a repeat on Wednesday.

Wait you didn't work out with him? Didn't want to embarrass him and how him his old man can lift more than him or what

We worked out together when he started in the summer and he knows I am stronger than he is. The real reason I didn't work out with him was because I wanted to stick with my normal routine of working out in the AM after I drop him off at school. It sets my day and ensures that nothing gets in the way. Going back to the gym with him in the afternoon wasn't an efficient use of my time, but efficiency wasn't my objective. My objective was to make sure that he was using good form and the right weights. Also, it was enjoyable hanging with him. I can make up the time I missed from work tonight when he's babysitting and wifey's at yoga.

Update

Gripper work is done.

The crowd is sooooo different at our gym depending on time...

4:30 a.m. the anorexics are leaving

5 a.m. you have the super hardcore

8:30 the midnight shift starts rolling in to workout before going to sleep

9 a.m. the moms all start showing up to take the classes since the kids are dropped off

11:30-1 you got the people that workout on their lunch break

2:30 highschool kids show up

5 p.m. the crowd begins to fill the parking lot of people coming home from work

7 p.m. TIME TO FIND a gym bitch to pick up. Dating, flirting and grunters are here!

8:30 Night time yoga classes start

10 p.m. wild and wacky crowd.....sometimes the showers have more then one person in it. hot tubes are full, sauna's...its a scarey place

The demographics of the gym this afternoon were very different than when I was there a few minutes before 7 this morning. I have no idea what the night life my gym is as I'm never there, but I'm sure my gym follows the general pattern of yours.

Foam rollers are awesome for IT band issues.

Thanks for the suggestion. In addition to the stretching that I've been doing I've also done a small amount of rolling.

Update

Whatever the reason, rest and/or stretching, my hip area is feeling a lot better today. Not 100%, but substantially better than yesterday. Were these normal times, meaning I wasn't training for a marathon, I would definitely either run or cycle today, but keeping an eye on what's most important I should bite the bullet and give my body another day to recover. Notice I wrote should, not will. Do as I say not.....you know the rest.

Have a great day.

Thanks Who. I'm hoping to get some definitive clarity this morning from my doctor so that I can proceed with the most effective treatment.

My routine checkup went well. All numbers are fine so if I don't get hit by a bus I'll probably be around for a while.

I had a discussion with doc about what I experienced on Saturday and she agreed with what I thought it was and said that I was doing all the right things. At one point she said there's a small chance it may be a hernia, but ruled that out after further consideration. My plan for today is do some rolling, but otherwise rest. No running and no cycling. I'll reassess on Thursday and at most go for a short run. For Saturday I am presently planning on a run of about 19 miles.

Do she get the blood work results immediately when you are there? If so, my doc is behind the times.

No. I'm not sure what the lead time is, probably a few days; I went last week and that was plenty of time for her to get the results. Due to insurance restrictions I use LabCorp and everything is sent electronically.

Update

Feeling like a slug, much like Sunday. Although a bit wet, today would have been a nice day to get out for a short run. Gym tomorrow AM.

My performance this morning at the gym was a duplicate of Monday. Solid, but nothing spectacular. I'm reaching the point where I should start thinking about changing things up; adding deads and squats into the routine would be beneficial for a number of reasons, but I know that I can't squat with any meaningful weight and still do the long runs that my marathon training requires. Something has to be subordinated and until the end of October it's going to continue to be those big compounds that I mentioned along with all other lower body work. As usual, gripper work will follow this afternoon.

Have a great day!

Solid is good... Save "spectacular" for after the marathon

Gripper work is done!

Spoke with dear daughter earlier for about 30 minutes.

It's been a good afternoon.
