Default Did something to my shoulder last week...

Last Wednesday, I did bent forward cable crossovers for the first time. I did my "test" set to judge how much weigh to use. Well, after the first set, I felt a little pain in my shoulder, on the part that causes the "V" between your bicep and trciep, but continued to finish my workout assuming it was nothing.

Well, the pain lasted about 3-4 days and finally seemed to go away. Now however I feel it more in my upper shoulder, closer to my neck. It's very slight, but I feel something there when I move the shoulder in certain ways.

Any thoughts what this could be, how to treat it and how important it would be to stay off it?

I haven't lifted since Wednesday because of it, but I'm DYING to get back into the gym. I'd appreciate any comments from people who know what I am talking about and/or have experienced something similar.

Thanks!

I've stopped doing any exercise with cable crossovers as well. They stress my elbows a lot and cause a lot of pain when I later do triceps. I don't think there are any essential mass exercises you can do on the crossover anyway, so don't worry about giving them up.

Well, I'm not worried about giving them up, that's a done deal. I'm worried about getting back into the gym without making it worse.

Hmm... I can't say I've had the same type of problem but I think I had something similar. It was more of a dull ache on the outside of my left shoulder, in the meaty part above the tricep.

Can you describe the pain you're experiencing? Is it a dull ache, sharp pain, or both?

If it's a dull ache, and you've been a training program for more then 6 weeks, I might suggest a week off.

When I experienced my pain, I took a full week off to let my body recuperate and repair itself. I didn't even do cardio as I wanted to make my body focus purely on repair and not stressing it too much.
