Ya,

Im pretty much gonna die.

I did a 1/2 marathon back in Decemeber (2:11) with no training.

So I figure since I have been working out (NOT TRAINING) i will finish in under 5 hours.

Good luck, man. I did a 10k a few weeks ago with absolutely no training and I did better than I had ever done.

Its getting close now, just thought id share my Motivation....

P Diddy - 4:14:54

Oprah Winfrey - 4:29:30

Will Ferrell - 3:56

David lee Roth - 6:04

Kim Alexis - 3:52

Billy Baldwin - 3:24

I really dont want to get beat by Oprah but she did train for several months before running it back in 95'

I am aiming for 3:59 (anything under 4 hours)

but will probably just make it in 4-5 hour range.

I will let u know how it goes,

Default Marathon Running

I"ve run one... I ran a 2:43.16 good enough for 14th in the national NAIA meet. Couple words of advice, make sure you have somebody there to hand you a powerbar or GU or something around the 18 mile mark, otherwise you'll more likely than not have some trouble with insulin levels. I know I did. Drink lots of fluids before, during and after. I also did a light vasolineing(sp) of my toes, pits, and pecks(band aids) work good here too, and didn't get a blister or any rubbing, though I heard I got lucky.

Have a good one man and good luck.

Good Luck mate

I dont know how people do it. I'm reasonably fit and a couple of years ago I ran 32kms. I cant remember the time but it was pretty slow. Fitness wise it wasnt a challenge but my body almost fell apart. I was hurting all over and my knees especially were killing me, I couldnt walk for about two days.

You could always just run without an official number. I think you can still do that. The crowd will still be there and cheer for you.

I don't know how people do it either. My dad runs marathons, and I'm going to Boston to watch him run that marathon in a few weeks. He's 53, and last year he ran Boston in 3:29. He runs 8-12 miles everyday, and on Saturdays he runs 18-23 miles. I cannot even imagine. . .

Fun Fun

I am at home now feeling ok, just sore.

Lesson: Train for marathons, dont just "go do one"

Wow that sounds very familiar my dad is going to be running Boston as well. He's 56 and is competeing in his 106th marathon. I can't remember his times, but they are in that area.

Congratulations man! Good job finishing even after it got rough.

I remember when I rode my first century ride, it was like 55 degrees, I was stupid enough to not have any warm cycling clothes and - partly because of the temperature and the very pleasant ice cold rain - I managed to strain my right ankle. Well, what do you do, you change your knee position. So like 5 miles later my knee is killing me. On the last 10 miles I literally wanted to scream at every pedal stroke. Luckily I did not permanently damage my knee and was fine in a couple of days.

To make a long story short(er), the next time I did the same ride I was much better prepared (clothes, non-fixed cleats on the shoes, better training) and I had a really fun time riding those 100 miles. I felt 10 times better than the previous year. So don't just say you will never do a marathon again, you just have to wait some time until you forget how much it hurt

Key word is you finished. You set a goal to run a marathon and finished which is awesome.
