Any Gardeners here?
Well, spring is almost here and I have a whole backyard without grass right now..
I am planning on building a couple of vegetable garden beds and growing some stuff this year... thing is, I have zero experience
Anyone can recommend a website or two for me to browse perhaps?
TIA

http://www.parkseed.com is a good site for seeds and bulbs, and they have a section where you can ask questions.
doing a quick search on google I found this site... http://www.thegardenhelper.com/gardenerindex.html it might be helpful
I have a ton of links for gardening but they are all on my computer at work... if I remember, I'll post some of them tmorrow ... and actually I lost most of them when my laptop died a while back.. but I know I have a few of my favorites at work.

Gardening is awesome. I only like to grow food though. Especially hot peppers. If you like jalapenos, they are an easy, delicious, and healthy crop. If you grow like 20 plants and can the peppers you'll have enough for the whole year. Best tasting things in the world.

This guy has awesome seeds.
Don't overlook his tomatoes either. I love the heirloom varieties.

Nope, but I saw the CONSTANT GARDENER once
...my mom is a huge gardener though, she has about an acre of flower beds and cool berms with planting and flowers. I used to help her a lot and actually did a lot of the landscaping/retaining walls and built some of the berms and a nice firepit.

I am only gonna grow veggies and other edibles
Last year I said I was gonna do it - even bought some seeds, but never finished up the yard enough to do it. This year, I am gonna do it...
Thanks for all the links people! I need to do some research cuz I am pretty sure I should be starting some stuff indoors now - like tomatoes and peppers... or at least I think I should.

I love gardening. I used to work at a pea patch that was located on the outskirts of downtown. That was my favorite job ever. Nothing like busting your ass shoveling or pulling weeds
I made my own miniature organic "hobby farm" in my backyard. All I used were two by fours, wire nets and panes of glass.
I had one area for herbs and garlic that was about 3x6 ft. And then another area that was about 10x10 where I grew strawberries, beans, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, onions, potatoes, etc, etc.
The soil was a bit clay-like, so I went and got a few bags of steer manure. It helped alot, but the chicken manure really did the trick (neighbors werent too happy though).
I have to say, if it's going to be organic, there will be much more labor-intensive work as far as pest control goes. That's the route I took and you have to be pretty tenacious.
