Cardio Question
I read recently that cardio sessions should be spaced no more than 48 hours apart for the sake of reaping the benefits of the previous session. Why is that?

I feel that he is possibly relating to the 'health' benefits and not the possible weight/fat loss of cardio.
I learnt about this during my higher education, and it is basically said that between training, in relation to VO2 Max, lung capacity, heart health, etc... the reversibility effect starts to take place if no cardio or exercise is undertaken within 3 days of eacother.
I think it is called the de-training effect, can't remember for sure though.

I meant to origianally post this quote but I couldn't find it when I posted the thread. Anyway heres what I read word for word.
"In general, cardio should be performed 3-5 times per week without more than 48 hours of rest passing between sessions. Any longer than 48 hours and your body starts to lose the positive effects of the previous session(s)."
Heres the link to the actual article. Sorry about not posting it before.

It's generally true assuming your working hard (intervals, high speed, high heart-rate in each session). You can do lower intnesity cardio every day or any day in between workouts.

If you are trying to get into top cardio fitness, then three days after your last workout, you can measure a slight loss of fitness.
If you are trying to have good cardio, help circulate blood through your muscles and joints, and burn some calories, then there is no problem, it's just a question of how you want to spread your volume of work through your schedule, and don't worry too much about it.

Slim Pickens, a.k.a. Major Kong, captain of the plane, was not told the movie was a comedy. To save money, Peter Sellers was originally supposed to play Major Kong, but allegedly had trouble developing the Western/cowboy accent.

It might be true if you are long distance runner training for competition. But there are alot of positive effects that lasts much longer than 48 hours. Based on my own experience I would say that cardio once every week is enough to maintain a reasonable level of fitness. You will probably not be able to compete in cardio-type sports. But you will still feel much better compared to no cardio at all....
