Putt-putt.

How about raquetball? That's a good cardio workout.

Crew/rowing...especially for losing fat. It's really basically just non-stop cardio using every major muscle group in your body. I had a bunch of friends that did it in college. They were eating like 5000KCal a day, and the fat still melted off.

if you can, play squash/racquetball. I play squash, and if you give your heart to your game, you can burn calories like crazy. Amongst the racquet games, I think you burn most calories per hour in squash (maybe racquetball can beat it). Plus, with these two games, you are not dependent on weather.

The best sport to lose fat is the one that you actually enjoy doing My own personal thoughts though is that using sports as your main weapon for losing that "gut" and getting into better overall shape may be slightly more difficult because of the many variables involved with recreational sports, especially since most of the more popular ones involve a group dynamic, and also the levels of resistance and training are always changing.

My advice would be to keep playing Lacrosse, but to supplement that with a good resistance training program, and obviously diet should be top priority in losing that fat as well But if you're looking to avoid the gym and want a sport that will really build up your strength, endurance and overall level of fitness, might I suggest rock climbing & mountain hiking.

Boxing! Or if you don;t like getting punched (like me) get in front of a bag and let it all out! It's a great stress reliever on top of a very demanding workout.

You can see from all the responses that there are a lot of ways to get a great workout. Nobody's said lacrosse though, and playing lacrosse myself, I know that all that running definitely gives you a great workout. If you like it, keep it up. But, don't forget that you can't get really fit without a good diet, the exercise is an important element, but you can't eat like crap and get in good shape.

Hey man, I'm with you! This is a sport to me, we're all athletes, and we're learning to be good at it together, too! I'm actually really good at a sport that doesn't involve (*)grappling other men...

(*) P.S. I was bound for the state championships when I wrestled in high school... when I tore my knee in a sparring match.

may not be what your looking for, but while playing 18 holes of golf on a golf course with a slope rating of over 110 the average male burns upwards of 1000 calories walking the course which usually consists of a hilly 5.5 miles with 25 lbs of clubs on your back. It can be quite invigorating.
