So I Agree - no slogans.
...unless they are laser-printed slogans, but I don't think you could afford the manufacturing costs.

Ok, all slogans are lame after one week, but your "laser joke" has been getting pretty much non-stop play on these forums for over a month?
Sorry, you walked into that one man.

If we're voting, I say no slogans.
If you're worried about slogans getting old rather quickly, another option to consider are quotations. To me, classic quotes by famous individuals never seem to get old and never fail to inspire.
Here is one site I found (there are many others): http://www.parrotsmeow.com/IQ/ and a JSF thread; http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/s...ghlight=quotes
I'm thinking of something like; "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" -Lao Tzu OR "Learn as if you were going to live forever. Live as if you were going to die tomorrow".

OK let's forget slogans for now, and focus on the designs.
Once the product line is out there, I'd be open to the idea of custom "one of a kind" items designed to order for a small up-charge.

I mean overall design of the shirts and other clothes, as I mentioned in my post today - not logo design.

I think there is a difference between a slogan and a witty saying. For example:
A slogan would be something like what you used to have at the top of the website, I think it was "Hard Work. Dedication. Results." or something like that. And while it sure has its place on a website like this, it would be a bit cheesy on a tshirt, IMO.
However, a VERY popular trend in clothing these days is witty sayings on tshirts. Walk into any casual store like Abercrombie, Hollister, Gap, American Eagle, etc, and pretty much the ONLY tshirts you'll find all have some comical little saying on them. (I must admit I own several myself.) Now I'm sure these stores aim them more at the college crowd, but I think a similar idea, fitness related, would not be such a bad idea for a tshirt, something along the lines of what Pete was saying like "Could You At Least Have the Common Courtesy not to Stand Directly Behind Me While I'm Doing Squats? Thanks." I also think something like what causticmuse suggested with some sort of funny Top 10 would actually make a great tshirt as well.
Anyway, just some thoughts of mine. I'm sure whatever you end up with will be great.

Some thoughts regarding the design of the women's items:
1) Most fitted women's clothing does NOT have a design on the back like regular boxy t-shirts do. It would look weird.
2) Regular boxy t-shirts make even fit women look fat, which is why those probably won't sell very well to females.
3) In practice, most women's shirts with printed designs place the designs centered across the chest, but not extending too far below mid-torso. Designs/lettering is kept relatively small, too. For this reason, I don't think that a plain "Johnstonefitness.com" URL design would work for a girlie shirt. I love this forum, but not enough to walk around with the URL emblazoned across my chest on a fitted baby-T or raglan.
Some typical women's tees: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/jump....=0&viewall=All
4) Regarding slogans--I think it's easier for women to get away with a bratty/amusing phrase and a cute design/image than men. What would be cheesy on a guy's shirt is considered cheeky or sassy on a woman's shirt.
5) A "JSF" logo of some kind could work (like the A&W root beer shirt here), but I still think that as far as women's stuff goes, the more subtle the URL, the better. The products wouldn't advertise the forum as much as the guy's stuff, but it would sell better to a more general fitness gal population.

Hey John let me know when you get a final logo or design ready for printing as I'd like to have it put onto a cycling jersey if you don't mind, considering the high costs of low runs I doubt you'll bother making cycling jerseys so I figured I could have one or two made for me.

I agree with everything Maggie just said. I think fitted women's shirts should have little or nothing on the back. As for basic T's, I really like the idea of a logo with a small URL on the front, and perhaps just the same thing larger on the back. Or perhaps logo on front, URL across back.
I bought one of these a couple months ago: http://www.cafepress.com/catstevens.9805334
(Yes I'm a fan. So sue me.)
Notice the small URL on the back. I really like it design-wise. The only thing that's weird is that the URL, even though it's just black lettering, is actually on a white square- it seems they couldn't print the letters directly onto the shirt. Not sure how that would work with any other color shirt.

Alright, I know the slogan solicitation was axed, but crap I already thought it up.
It would look cooler, because the letters of stone could look like stone, and the words "cut in", could literally be cut in a stone. It also incorporates the url. It has two meanings. Please come and cut at JSF.com and once you do you will look cut in stone.
On the design side of things, I have no idea about cafepress and their options but I really like Gaps athletic fit T-shirts for example , they are a good fit. Any kind of typical t-shirt you get from a company promoting something, is always ridiculously large.

I was thinking and I think both "cut from stone" and "cut like stone" work just as well.
Cut from stone is my favorite. It would mean you are cut from going to johnstonefitness.com (because the url would be there) and you are really cut from stone. For those not yet really cut (like me), you could still be cut from stone mentally.
I don't know, I think I like these, what do people think? Still cheesy?
Caustismuse's list is awesome, especially the loose.

I dont think "Get Stoned" is cheesy at all, infact, i think thats the best one yet. That t-shirt would sell.

I really don't want any slogans. The best bet for me would be a hoodie (zippered), windbreaker, and a cycling jersey(prolly get that made on my own) with the JSF logo and maybe the url under it. Slogans aren't my thing so I stay away from them.

Shop Open!
Ok, I've got everything ready to go and my shop is fully customized so it should be pretty seamless browsing between the main site/forums and the JSF Gear site.
Feel free to place orders now, but understand that I have NOT ordered anything myself to check out the quality (I'm doing that tonight). I trust the quality will be fine, as Cafe Press has been around for a long time and serves tens of thousands of people, if not more.
I'm interested in feedback on the mechandise designs, any HTML problems that show up under non-IE browsers and, of course, the quality of the merchandise. Obviously I can't order one of everything or I'll go broke, so I thought I'd let the forum members get first crack and help beta test everything.
Later I'll add more designs and I'll even have an option to create one-a-kind custom designs for a small extra charge.
I hope you like the stuff. I'll wait a week or so to get some feedback before I launch the site officially.

Or, for the faithful John Stone copycat guys, "WWJSD?" (What would John Stone Do?)

I really like Maggie's idea. It would be neat to have something that says
I KNOW THE ANSWERS:
and list the typical questions that this site's members generally know that other people don't, like:
What does 40/40/20 mean?
What's my BMR?
Then say YOU CAN TOO and list the url.

I have a question that I'm hoping someone can answer for me without too much grief. I have been here for a few months now, but I never really thought about this. Exactly, what IS the logo for JSF? I mean, I see it every day, but is it supposed to represent something that I am completely missing?
