Default Nutrition Stats

I'm interested in starting a similar program, but I am wondering how you go about getting all the nutritional information for food. We do a lot of cooking from scratch, not from recipe. I would be interested in hearing how you go about collecting all of your data.

My suggestion is to either buy this book:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=books

And / Or use these sites:

http://www.nutritiondata.com/

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/nutrient.htm

In either case, you need to weigh/quantify everything to get really good resolution of your nutritional intake.

DJ,

FitDay.com has loads of info, but I also picked up a book that has all kinds of reference to ingredients. The one I have is called the Complete Nutirion Counter. I would suggest a better, more inclusive edition of the book, or another reference all together, but that should give you a good start.

Just remember that there are 4 calories to protein and carbs, per gram. 9 calories per gram of fat, and 7 calories per gram of alcohol. That is a formula that you will use over and over again.
