I just received my order of Multi Plus and Opticen from ALN. I love the chocolate flavor but watch out for the thickness! I mixed one serving of Opticen with 16 oz of skim milk and it was delicious but extremely thick. Tomorrow, I'll make it with 20 oz of milk and see how much the viscosity decreases. I'll also try it in a blender with some ice. I have to be careful - Opticen has just become one of my new cheat meals.

Overall, I give the Opticen high marks. Its very tasty and reminds me of a melting chocolate milkshake. The customer service was prompt as usual. In fact, I placed the order and then finished a couple of tasks. I was on my way out and checked my email one last time and there was the shipping notification - within 30 minutes after ordering.

Chris and ALN exceed my (already high) expectations each and every time I order from them and this order has been more of the same.

Default ETS and ZMA

Question for Chris and other's imput is also welcome: I'm planning to start with ETS. I had also wanted to take ZMA. Rather than take both and possibly have too much I was thinking of taking a zinc tablet (at 50 mg zinc) and looking for some arginine too. I'd take these with my nightly dose of ETS. Any thoughts?

The zinc and magnesium in ETS should be more than sufficient. If you wish to take arginine with it that would be fine.

Default ETS timing?

This has been touched on before, but I'm not sure it was ever fully answered. There's a lot of talk about food, particularly calcium-rich food causing poor absorbtion of ZMA. Here, zinc and magnesium is actually formulated with microlactin. Nevertheless, should ETS and diary products at the same time be avoided? A typical pre-bed meal for me would be cottage cheese and fruit or some kind of carb. I've just ordered low carb grow which is a protein blend with micellar casein. So, I expect to be having this before bed with some carbs frequently. Many have recommended taking ZMA an hour before bed and having your food immediately before. Would this apply with ETS as well? Or is it not necessary? thanks,

Justin

I take my ETS in the morning and afternoon (or all in the morning). The timing issue is not going to make a big difference in my opinion.

With respect to calcium, if there is any in the Microlactin (TM) it would be such a minute amount as to have little to no effect on the absorption of zinc and magnesium.

Thanks. Ok, that's good. So in regard to diary products and other foods high in calcium, make an effort to take it at a different time as them or you don't think that matters too much either?

Yeah, I really wouldn't sweat it. Just take the product when most convenient for you.

Default Review of AtLargeNutritions Nitrean Whey

Just finished trying At Large Nutrition's Nitrean's Whey Supplement 1 scoop a day for about 20 days. I thought it would be a good idea to write a quick review on what I thought.

Taste:
While it is a few dollars more than what I buy (ON's Whey Protein) the taste is so much better. I ordered chocolate flavor, used it in my shake and it's kinda the difference between a waxy chocolatey bar and a good quality chocolate. It seems that Nitrean is more milky-like while the ON's I use is a little more artificial tasting. I even gave my wife a taste of each and she loved At Large's much better. No brainer, really.

Nutrition Facts:
Both about the same -- Nitrean does have one more gram of protein per serving than ON's.

Effectiveness:
I felt like it helped - using it along with my workout program I was able to make some good progress. I lost 5 pounds in around 3 weeks. Here are the photos:

Before -- April 2, 2005 (175 lbs)

After -- April 17, 2005 (170.5 lbs)

Overall, with my limited experience, I would recommend this supplement to anyone.

Thanks for the review Stecman!

I would like to clarify one important factor, our protein products all use a blend of WHEY, CASEIN, AND EGG PROTEINS. They are not strict whey-only products as I truly believe the blend we use is superior in effectiveness. Our product will result in a greater net retention of protein than any whey-only product on the market.

Stecman also mentioned something that nearly all of our users have noted, our product tastes and mixes as well as ANY product they have ever used and better than most.

If you haven't given our protein products a try you should, you will NOT be disappointed.

Just wanted to say,

I've ordered from ALN for about 2 month's now and their products are top notch. My favorite product from ALN is Opticen not only does it contain a ton of protien for the calories which is great for my cutting, but it also carries a ton of vitamins and different protien types which is good for me because I do not have the time to mess with a ton of supplements due to being in the military.

Opticen tastes great, mixes perfectly with water, and is realitively cheap compared to the other MRP's I've tried. So far I've only had the vanilla so I can't comment on the chocolate.

My only comment is I wish you had bigger sizes of the opticen because I am often underway for 2-4 weeks at a time and keep running out so I ration it by mixing with regular whey protien.

On another note ALN is very easy to deal with, has fast service and is very personal in their customer relations.

All said ALN is top on my list of distributers that I buy from online. Keep up the great work guys.

Thanks a lot Phil! It is always nice to receive compliments from our customers!

I am glad you mentioned one of our protein products. Our protein products are tops in quality and definitely worth the consideration of anyone looking for the best protein products on the market.

Chris,

Is your company closely tied to Wannabebig.com?

I noticed a lot of ad's for AtLarge on their site and was wondering what the extent of the relationship was.

Yes sir. My partner owns Wbb and it was our customer base when we first began AtLarge.

Feel free to post there as we are always looking for solid contributors such as yourself.

Sorry I didn't respond to this sooner, I just noticed it.

Is the ETS ok to take during a bulk phase? I am interested in this product as I do get DOMS and some joint pain. But right now am bulking so just want to check if it's a good overall supplement.

Absolutely. I wish I'd known about ETS during my last bulk. It is very effective, and I'll definitely continue to use it during my next bulk later this year.
