Default Integrating weight training and running training

I'm currently doing a 3-day weight training split, with running on the off days (3x/week). It's going well, but ever since doing a couple of 5K races and doing surprisingly well, the running bug has got me.

I've found an intermediate training program that has 5 days/week runs, and I'm thinking of giving it a go. I really don't want to give up the strength program I'm working on, but I may have to at least modify it if I want to pursue the running program full-tilt.

Does anyone have any experience with combining running and weights where neither exercise winds up being an "afterthought"?

Thanks...
