Default Prowler

My gf got sick of me talking about the Prowler for the past year. I finally just bit the bullet and forked out $500 (cost + shipping) for the Prowler 2. I now need to go buy some cheap Olympic plates to put on this thing.

Reasons for buying:
I wanted something for cardio/conditioning/GPP/strength. My right knee is pretty shaky right now and my running/HIIT has been drastically reduced. My squats/lunges have also been severely limited in poundage and reps. So, I decided to give the Prowler a try.

I will post a review when I get it and use for several weeks. I hope this thing takes my physique and conditioning to the next level!

Just go my Prowler 2 my UPS truck delivery last night. It took roughly 1 week from ordering on the internet.

It looks just like the one on www.elitefts.com website. It's white with 2 black poles in the rear and 2 lower horizontal handles in the front.

1. It looks damn solid and reliable
2. The size/weight is such that I can carry it on my shoulder up and down several flights of stairs no problem.
3. The poles are able to accomodate the size of two 45 lb plates...so the amount of weight you can slap on is endless
4. Lot of people will ask - "What the heck is that thing?"
5. It's got 3 skiis as the "feet" and these are replaceable should they wear out after dragging it around on concrete pavement.

I will post the workout review once I use it for a few weeks.

I've done 1 "warm-up" routine several days ago and I just got finished with my first "prowler workout".

For the warm-up day, I just wanted to get a feel for the prowler and measure out distances and so forth. Anyways, the parking lot in front of my place has a little incline. So, with zero weights on the prowler, I pushed it up the incline about 40 yards and then back. Well, after 3 rounds of this, my heart was racing like crazy, my quads and butt were burning. So I just called it a day.

For my first Prowler Workout (there's actually several workouts listed on the elitefts website - http://www.elitefts.com/documents/prowler_challenge.htm

I put 25lbs on each pole (totaling 50lbs) and "sprinted" it up 40 yards, rested 30-60secs and then back 40 yards, then rested 1 minute, then repeated. Well, let me tell you, after 1-2 rounds, I was DYING. My heart was racing, my legs and butt were spasming. I wasn't sure I was gonna finish all 6 rounds I was hoping for. But I did it....eventually. Now, I feel DEAD.

I think I'll be doing this 1-2 x/week and also doing some kettlebells with it. It'll be a good replacement/interchangeable workout for my HIIT (treadmill) or metabolic circuit workouts.

I'll post more as I do more workouts and feel more comfortable with it.

RECOMMENDATION: I HIGHLY recommend this.

couple questions.. I have a pretty good size paved driveway. Does this thing chew up the ground?

How loud is it? I'd like to use it at home, but if its noisy like mad, my neighbours won't be thrilled ;-)

Thanks,

Pete
