I know about body dysmorphia, but I don't think what I'm talking about is comparable in any way (that's not to say some bodybuilders are not affected by this disorder).
I'm talking more about my inability to see relatively rapid changes while they are happening because I'm too close to gain any perspective. A little time seems to be the "cure".

I posted the initial set of bulking workouts (which I did for four weeks) on the main site here. Since then I've been posting my complete workouts whenever I changed them on the main site in the daily news updates. The TOCs from late October forward should indicate when a new workout was posted.
John, this may be a silly question. Is there any specific reason you only bulk for 12 weeks of the year? I mean why not 19 weeks (or any other number of weeks for that matter)
For example if you did 9 weeks as the first phase of the bulk, then had a week of no lifting and a maintainance level diet intake so that your body could recover. Then for phase 2 another 9 weeks of lifting.
Is it not healthy to bulk for a longer period of time or just not desirable?
Thanks.

Yeah, i know what you mean. I have that with the fat loss, for sure. It's like those sections in kids magazines that show a closeup of something, and it's almost impossible to figure out what it is. Or trying to figure out a song from a 3 second clip.

Bulking is hard work! Shoveling food in and bringing the proper intensity to each workout runs you down enough that a week of maintenance won't cut it -- both physically and mentally. You could probably run two 12 week cycles (or the equivalent) in a year if your nutrition and recovery is top notch, but they'd need to be well separated. In addition, muscle growth and strength gains, as you get more experienced, don't come workout to workout, but over longer time periods.

As usual, Adam is right on target.

Well, that's not really true. The gains I'm making this year are not groundbreaking; that is to say, I've had this level of musculature in the past, but lost it. Muscle memory is allowing me to "rebuild" that lost muscle pretty quickly. Future gains, especially at my age, will almost certainly come at a far slower rate.

I've made some changes to the Youtube code on this forum to allow for widescreen and High Quality video (when available). I'll talk about this more in this morning's update (which I need to go write!)
Here's a HQ video I shot yesterday of my dogs upstairs in the theater lobby.

She is doing fantatsic, Jedi! You'd never know anything is wrong. She's not in pain, she is eating and playing like normal and there have been no signs of any new tumors.
The experimental malignant melanoma treatments she's been undergoing seem to have absolutely zero side-effects (apart from draining my checking account! ) I feel so fortunate that this new cutting-edge treatment exists. A few years ago she'd almost certainly be gone by now.
i was half expecting to have you edit this movie of the dogs, once you threw the popcorn to speed-up the movie and play some yakety sax in the background.

My rep range is not that high--generally 10-12 reps per set (excluding, of course, supersets and drop sets). My overall training volume, admittedly, is quite high. I've found through trial and error that for hypertrophy my body responds best to a lot of volume. Plus I love it.
