The benefits of having a home gym . Which I strive to have someday. The gym also has significantly less people on holidays, so I guess most people are in agreement with Lisa. The rest of us, however, are hardcwore.

I was extra fired up for today's workout for some reason, and I just had the best chest/triceps workout of this bulk--and I've had some damn good ones. My back gave me no toubles at all.

A few new photos...

Here are a couple of chest dips action shots. Lisa loves these photos (especially the second one) because she says that's how my face looks when I'm being goofy, which is often.

Training is over for the day. I like that my traps seem like they've grown a little (no pump here, either!) As you can see from my expression, I'm very happy with how well the workout went.

There is definitely some delt and tricep recruitment when doing dips. The trick to targeting the chest as much as possible is to lean forward.

Nice work, John!.....

I like to get in a little extra chest "kick" by hiking my butt up about horizontally parallel with my head...once I'm at the "top" of the movement....like the beginning of a handstand ( if I'm doing bodyweight..)

Well, that was an interesting workout...

- Pulled muscle in lower back again - Check!

- Cut finger on something and bled all over the entire gym before noticing - Check!

- Stood up quickly after low rows to do DB pullover supersets and smashed head on barbell above me so hard that I fell on my ass and saw stars - Check!

Despite all that I finished the workout and bested all of last week's back/biceps lifts.

I think my back is going to be OK, but it's not feeling real good right now. It was unwise of me to attempt heavy deadlifts again so soon. Sometimes my desire to work hard gets in the way of rational thought. I can't help it.

Anyway, I'll write more about the workout in tomorrow's update. Right now I need to shower and get the turkey in the oven. I plan to eat an insane amount of food today.

Happy Thanksgiving, John. Interesting you should mention your back injury again, today's T-Nation article is about glute training and there's a section in it that talks specifically about lower back injury.

There are some good glute exercises (mobility drills and resistance stuff) there, it might well be worth some serious consideration.

John, I have nothing but admiration for you and what you have done. You are part of the reason I managed to change my lifestyle completely for a much better one, but you push yourself too hard.

It is not going to help you if you permanently injure yourself and are no longer able to lift weights. You know it!

Just take it easy and rest a bit. I speak for myself but I bet others will agree, the last thing we want is to see John Stone out of action permanently.

Don't worry--It's just a pulled muscle, a bump on the head and a cut finger. I'm fine. That's nothing compared to the year you've had.

I can't help the way I'm wired, it's part of what makes me who I am. Gotta take the good with the stupid.

Dude, you rock! Seriously, I had no idea you even noticed the year I have had. You are truly a great guy and an inspiration. I wish you a speedy recovery and a happy thanks giving (even though we don't celebrate it here in South Africa), I can totally relate to the meaning behind it.
