I love your anti-smoking sermons John. I'm always glad to hear them from someone who actually smoked (because somehow non-smokers opinions are irrelevant to most people ). It's something I feel really, really strongly about (though I contain myself and don't preach, since it's unappreciated). If I ever meet you, I'm going to hug you.

I used to preach, then I discovered two things: 1) People find anti-smoking preaching really annoying, and 2) Preaching never helped anyone stop smoking. Ever.

So yeah, I try to get people thinking about quitting when I write about how I used to smoke, but I try not to be heavy-handed or anything.

nice beard John! What does your wife think about it?

I know when I grow out my beard, it's okay at first, but after a few days my GF starts complaining that the area around her lips is all red from the beard hahaha ...

I usually end up shaving it off anyway, I find that more than 7 days of growing, it just gets really itchy and annoying.

BTW in that pic, you remind me of a mixture of Rambo and Jean Claude Van Dam.

It's not her favorite thing, that's for sure.

This Friday will be a month since I shaved. I like some things about the beard, but it's also pretty irritating and it makes me look older.

The plan is to keep it no longer than the end of my bulk, but it may not even survive that long. We'll see.

Once the itching starts it only lasts about a week or so, then it goes away. At least for me any way.

My wife loves when I grow my beard, go figure!

I guess it has to do with how fast the hair grows. I haven't shaved since last Tuesday and I'm just about on par with your beard. I started itching about 2-3 days ago, but really only at night when my face is on the pillow and all. This time next week I'll be fine.

Thanks again for the inspiration. I'm feeling better than I did when I was 18 and I have you to thank for that. I tried your chest/tricep workout yesterday and even though I couldn't finish the final superset for chest, it was by far the best workout I've had the past month. The DOMS are really kicking in today.

Thanks again for supplying such a great source of information!

Oh, wait a sec--I see from your signature that you are cutting? Is that still accurate? If that's the case then my bulking workouts are probably not the best choice for you right now. Those workouts are way too intense and have too much volume for someone who is in a caloric deficit. Save those workouts for when you are eating big!

Heh! I need to update my sig. I haven't posted much in the past year, but still follow the daily updates, well....daily.

Right now I'm in more of a really slow bulk/maintain phase. On the days I workout, I take in about 300 calories more than I need and on off days, just eat to maintain. I'm in that weird spot where I'm no longer a beginner, but not really sure if I'm ready for advanced workouts. That's why I'm trying different splits and doing my first workouts that include things like supersets, drop sets, etc...to figure out what works best for me. I figure that as long as I'm moving weight and getting my sweat on, I've got a little time to experiment. But yeah, I probably should have ate quite a bit more yesterday. That workout was brutal.
