Default Protein powder recipe thread!

I thought it would be cool to have a big thread where everyone can post all sorts of recipes for livening up protein powder meals. If it takes off, maybe it could become a sticky.

I'll start it off with a very simple one.

Protein frapuccino

Blend 2 scoops (60g) of vanilla protein powder (or 1 scoop of vanilla and 1 of chocolate) with 1 tsp instant coffee, 1-1.5 cups of water and a handful of ice. Serve in a tall glass

Talking Protein Preacher Cookies

These are great for when you have a chocolate attack and need something. Makes about 2 cookie size amounts, or just eat the whole thing right out of bowl (that is what I do).

Put 1 scoops (30 grams) of Chocolate Protein Powder in a bowl. I use: Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard Double Rich Chocolate

Add 1 tablespoon (5 grams) Pure Cocoa powder

Add 4 to 6 packets of Splenda

Add up to 1 cup (40 grams) of Quick Oats

Add up to 2 Tablespoons (32 grams) of Natural Peanut butter

Slowly add water as you stir - want a gooey non-runny mixture.

You can microwave for about 20 seconds, or you can cover and let sit in freezer for 2 to 5 minutes, or you can just eat it as it is (I do).

This is great stuff

Cals = up to about 495 Cals
(you can cut PB and/or Oats into 1/4, 1/2 or 1/3's if you want to lessen the Cals)

full amounts of all ingredients p/c/f/ = 33/27/40

Hope you enjoy,
BW

Oh my gosh, chocolate goodness! Great recipe. I used 3/4 cup of oats and 1 tbs of peanut butter. Also replaced splenda with 1 tbs of honey.

I get out a mixer.... throw milk, chocolate protein powder, a banana, a few ice cubes and mix away. If you mess around with the amount of milk and ice you can get something that resembles the consistency of milk shake and it tastes great too!

I make my some protein bars that can be used a meal suppliment for extra protein or a snack in itself

6 scoops vanilla protein powder
1/2 cup powder milk (dry not mixed)
1/4 cup fat free cream cheese
1/2 cup egg beaters
1 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup raisins or dried cranberries
1/4 cup honey or molasses or barley malt or maple syrup or sugar free maple syrup
50 almonds(coarsely chopped)
1 tbls olive oil

pour batter into a 9x 9 baking dish and bake at 350 for about 15 to 20 minutes. I insert a toothpick to test it, if the toothpick comes out clean it is done. The olive oil keeps them soft. Cut into 12 pieces.

depending on the protein content of the protein powder used you end up with a macro of appx 19 grams protein, 4 grams of fat and 20 grams of carbohydrates per piece or about 250 calories. If you want to cut the carbs more use splenda or sugar free maple syrup as a sweetener. To me the molasseses or maple sugar ones are the best. A 1/2 teaspoon of rum flavoring or vanilla extract can be added also

I wrap mine individually in aluminum foil and store them in the fridge. using the store brand 14 dollar a jug protein these cost about 50 cents US to make and taste pretty decent.

I've probably posted this before, but here it is again, as it deserves another mention

1.5 scoop Nitrean
1 scoop Opticen
1 banana
ice
water

Throw it all in a blender and blend away. If you want more carbs, add in 1/2 cup of raw oats. If you get the ice/water ratio just right, it will blend up into a thick, tasty chocolate banana flavored shake

Smile Hot Chocolate with Chocolate Nitrean!

I was just in the mood for hot chocolate today... and I was trying to think how I could get a Protein/Fat meal in with it.

I love all the flavors of AT's Nitrean -- but I do find the chocolate taste a little odd. But I found if I mix in a bit of high quality, unsweetened, cocoa powder, it tastes great! I recommend Droste's Cacao over every other brand I have found in the US (far better than Ghirardelli, Godiva etc.) It's a "dutched" cocoa, which means it has alkaline. You should be able to buy it in most supermarkets.

So how to make a hot chocolate?

WHAT NOT TO DO: I put in a mug the protein powder & the cocoa powder with the intention of adding heavy cream later. I boiled water and poured it over and it turned into this disgusting mess. The protein powder coagulated in a way that made it look like soaked, sludgy bread. It never properly dissolved.

So back to the drawing board -WHAT DID WORK:

I made my protein shake the way I usually do -- I put in a blender about 1 1/2 scoops of chocolate Nitrean, 1 1/2 tsp. of Droste's chocolate, 8 oz of my favorite bottled water (Essentia these days -- I order it through Whole Foods by the case), hit the highest level ("liquefy" on my blender) and then blend in a couple of Tbsp of Heavy Cream ( organic from grass-fed cows ).

then I poured the shake into a large coffee mug -- put it in the microwave just to get it hot. The protein powder still coagulated but in a totally neat way. It created these marshmallow-like chocolate puffs.

It was truly delicious ... and totally within my macros...

30 g chocolate-mint protein powder
1/2 tsp guar gum
10 g unsweetened cocoa powder
50 g frozen spinach
ice cubes

Put in blender and enjoy. The guar gum makes it really thick and creamy like a milk shake. You could add some natty PB but I prefer to eat mine off a spoon to get the full taste .

Default My Night Time Snack

Justitia's Time Snack

1/2 cup Organic Part Skim Ricotta Cheese from Grass-Fed Cows
1/4 cup Organic Whole Milk Ricotta Cheese from Grass-Fed Cows (Natural by Nature)
2/3 scoop of Nitrean Vanilla
1 oz sugar-free Torani Syrup -- usually Hazelnut, Vanilla or Irish Cream but I plan to try other flavors.
stir into a mush and sprinkle in:
Vietnamese Cinnamon
Ground Ginger
Ground Nutmeg (all spices from Whole Food's line.)

and eat.

I know Ricotta cheese is not optimal, that it is high in lactose, more whey than casein -- but I really love it and the dish is not the same with cottage cheese -- which I used to eat at night -- but now I do in the AM 2-3 times a week.

Anyway -- if you feel you cna fit this in your food plan... feast and enjoy
