I sadly made that mistake, bought a washburn dimebag darrell flying V. It was one of the last models that washburn produced before he switched to Dean.
...WORST decision I ever made with guitars. The neck was warped, one of the generic pickups were dead, cracks in the paint, akward U-boat neck, headstock heavy so the balance was off, HEAVY!....oh man...
I ended up trading it for an second hand 7 string ibanez. I sold that after a year and bought my ESP Viper......(drools) Truly the best guitar I have ever had or played (for the style of music I play of course). Though lately I have been looking at swapping out the EMG 81 and 85 pickups for some Semour Duncan Blackouts! wOOt.
Sorry for jackin' the thread Big John.
I took a listen to your tunes there John and good stuff. You have a nice tone with that Ibanez for sure. What kind of slide are you using? Bone? Brass? Glass? Also are you running that through your Carvin?

John,
You plan to bulk past your highest muscle mass? Into the 225-250 zone?

For the slide work I was using a steel slide. That was an "air" recording (using the camcorder mic) of my GNX run through the Carvin halfstack. The rock samples were my GNX plugged straight into my Audigy.

I've taken and selected all the pictures for the revised home gym page. I still need to write all the text and stuff, but I thought I'd go ahead and post the photos in advance here with short descriptions.
The gym came out even better than I thought it would. I couldn't be happier with it!
Here's the view from the outside of the gym. I had cordless shades installed so I could have some privacy in there if I want, and also so we have the option of hiding the gym from the entry:
Same view, with the shades up:
Entering the gym, the Titan awaits!
Going around the room counter-clockwise...
Here's the plate tree, one of the four accessory hook assemblies, the heavy bag/gloves, a great photo of Arnold doing a double-bicep pose and one of the five 4'x6' glassless mirrors. The gym floor is Humane's "Loktuff" 1/2" interlocking rubber flooring:
Here's the recumbent bike, another 4'x6' glassless mirror (this one oriented horizontally), the Titan accessory rack and the 32" HDTV:
TV and digital cable box mounted underneath:
Along the rear wall. This is mainly my squat and deadlift area, but I also do tricep pressdowns and a few other exercises at the rear of the Titan, too. There are three 4'x'6' glassless mirrors along this back wall. On the far wall you can see some framed photos of Mentzer, Arnold and Zane along with some more Titan accessories and attachments:
Close-up of the photos:
Dumbbell rack:
More accessories and attachments on the hooks and on the floor, every workout log since 2003 in the large box on the floor, and some more accessories in the box on top of that one. The clock is radio-controlled and always 100% accurate:
I'll go into more detail when I update my home gym page...

I bought my boys a Laguna guitar pack that can with the Line 6 15w amp. I love the efx that it comes with. It has 3 presets...clean, metal, and insane (crunch). My kids have been filling the house with Metallica ever since.
Love the gym John.

Way to live the dream John. That gym is simply awesome.
Nice choice of viewing on the TV to.

What are the dimensions of your new gym in your new home? Is that room 10 x 13?

I always note the start and stop time of my workouts in my workout logs, and of course I use the clock for timing my rest intervals, too. The only reason I have a radio-controlled clock is because it's nice to never have to set it and also to know it's always 100% accurate down to the second.

John, congrats on the new home and your gym looks great.
I have recently begin to eat a lot of fish for my evening meals and was curious how you cooked the majority of yours. Do you grill most of it or bake it in the oven and do you add anything to it like olive oil, spices, lemon juice etc. I am just trying to find the healthiest way to prepare it. Thanks.

Most of the fish I eat while cutting is cod, and to prepare that I simply drizzle some lemon juice on it along with some fresh cracked pepper. I wrap the fillet in tin foil and toss it in the toaster oven set at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes.
When I have salmon I make it a few different ways. Check out the recipe section of JSF for a few of my favorite way to prepare salmon.
