I shaved down this morning after my cardio and took some long-overdue leg shots. I don't really like my legs: I'm somewhat knock-kneed and muscle above my kneecaps looks kinda like fat. My legs grow fast, so they will get quite a bit larger while I'm bulking. I expect to add 3+ inches to my quads and up to an inch on my calves.
These were taken cold (no pump).
Quads...

What's the problem w/shaving your legs? Insecurity? In my opinion, if you shave your chest, you should shave your legs. If I didn't, I would look very weird. I'm very harry.
That was cool John. I can tell you're from Texas Not taking sh*t isn't arrogant, it's just what it is...

Looking good John! Can't wait for the bulk. Adding three inches to your thighs? holy crap, hello new pants.

I already have a whole different set of bulking clothes! I'm serious - last year in January (after my bulk) I couldn't even get the jeans I'm wearing right now (which are normally very baggy) past my thighs.
All my suits are also getting a little tight. I'm going to need a good tailor or a few new suits this year.
On another note: I just had a long talk with SwoleCat about the weight training portion of my bulk. We've decided that a higher volume training program is probably best for me, so I won't be doing the standard SUP2 weight training program. Of course I'll be doing the SUP2 program from a nutritional standpoint, but I'll be doing a slightly modified version of the SGX weight training program. I'm very VERY happy about this. I already know how my body will respond to the higher volume, and I'm looking for huge gains. A low volume program might work for me too, but I don't feel like taking any chances this year. Also, I have to admit that I have not been enjoying the 20 minute weight training workouts this week. I love lifting, so very brief workouts are not really my cup of tea. I'll go into more details in tomorrow's daily news update.
I'm on cloud nine right now.

One thing you might think about concerning your bulk is...(it's only a suggestion) Chris obviously knows his stuff. And you're going on his program. If you deviate from it, you might not get as good of results as you would if you didn't. Also, It could be seen as , "ok, I'll follow your program but I know better how it should be conducted". You obviously know your body very well, but you said yourself since you've been on SGX, you learned even more about your body and how it reacts etc. etc.
Just food for thought,
Mick

I think you missed the part where I said Chris and I discussed this at length. One size does not fit all, and Chris (more than anyone) knows this. His programs are not set in stone, and that's part of the strength of his programs. They are not cookie-cutter.

Oh I see. I was under the impression his programs were like, he tells you what to do, you do it, and get results...

That's true, but that's not to say he won't work with you to customize the program if desired/required. Believe me, Chris won't be shy about telling you what will and won't fit into his program, though. The point is that there's wiggle room.
I should also add that the idea to start with higher volume was, in fact, SwoleCat's: I asked him if I could try a higher volume program after six weeks if the default STS program was not producing results. We talked about it for a bit, and in the end Chris actually recommended that I start with the high volume program.

That's great b/c I'll be on SGX soon and I have a few exercises I have difficulty doing due to my paralysis so, I haave to tweak a bit. There's only a few and once I get hooks, those problems will be resolved anyway. Like durring lunges, I loose my grip in my right hand (using dumbells) that kinda thing.
most of all good luck with your shoulder holding up John.

I've been keeping track of John's progress very closely w/what he reports back to me. After hearing his great SGX results (better than we had even set out for in the initial program intro.), and doing some thinking on my own, I see him doing very well w/what we have set for him to do on SUP2.
The more I work w/someone, the more I come to know what will/won't work very well, thus making the continual success that much more guaranteed.
Look forward to fantastic things.

I hate these harsh Florida falls and winters. I think I'm going to hang out in my backyard today and work on my tan.
The gardens are growing in nicely!

you're cruel. It's raining and 34 F in boston right now. It makes halloween parties so much more difficult.
I imagine in Florida, Halloween must be cool. You can go as anything you want without worrying about being too cold. I was out last night and it seems that most college kids heading to parties try to wear as little as possible for their costume but still need to be warm. But if wasn't that cold out, I can only imagine what some of the costumes would be.
