We're hoping to close at the end of August. I'm worried about the peak of hurricane season screwing up the timing. It bothers me that the houses are all made of wood, but I guess that's because I grew up in Miami where any sane person builds with concrete.

I started watching MMA back in the early days (I still have some of the earliest UFCs, including UFC #1, on VHS recorded from PPV!) Gracie, Shamrock, Kino, David "Tank" Abbott. I tend to like fighters who are less talk and more game. Loudmouths/showboats like Krazy Horse, Kino and Tank Abbott never did much for me. I like guys who do their talking with fists and feet.
John, If you like gentlemen warriors you'd love Fedor and also Igor Vovchanchan. They both fight exlusively in Pride. Randy Couture is probably the classiest fighter out there but his style is pretty boring unless you're a big fan of wrestling (which I am). The cage in the UFC tends to favor the ground n pound style versus the boxing ring in Pride. (It's hard to throw a punch when you're pinned against a fence)

I'm working on organizing my collection into a database format so I can better share my files. Any of you at JSF will be welcome to download from me when this is done.

I'm also working on an MMA highlight movie which will rival the best out there.

Apparently, Fedor is going to go up against CroCop in August. Should be an interesting one. I predict that CroCop does one of his high kicks to the head, Fedor shakes it off, takes him down and wins by ground and pound!
Yes this is all true and you're probably right about the outcome although CroCop has been working on his ground game like a fiend. He will be fighting a Russian who trains with Fedor as a special Bonus match during Pride Middleweight (205 pounders)Total Elimination Semifinals which is coming up very soon I believe, or it may have happened already.

The sport is growing by leaps and bounds and if you appreciate athleticism than you have to respect what these guys are capable of, how they train, how they eat, and most importantly the extent to which they kick ass. :d_eek:

A note on piracy: I don't feel bad about obtaining files digitally because I've bought a ton of PPV over the years as well as renting VHS tapes and these aren't exactly DVD quality videos-the resolution is at best 640*480 and the more I collect the more I end up spending elsewhere.
It's unfortunate that the sport isn't that popular at this point so there's no way to watch it on tv on a regular basis.

Accept 'The Ultimate Fighter' which I thought was an awesome show. I watched every episode after the first and in fact I would go to bed and wake up at 11:07 PST to watch it. Some of the fights were letdowns (Leben vs Koschek to name one) but on the whole it was a great show and the finale was unbelievable (I have a vid of that too)

Bonnar vs Griffin was an epic slugfest and we will look back at that fight as having helped propel the sport into the mainstream.

Have you been able to find anything? The cheapest mirror I've found on Home Depot's site is some god-awful "sydney keepsake" mirror for $50. Definitely not what I'm looking for.

Hope you've had better luck...

Finally! I've been waiting for that fight for ages!
I hope CroCop does his trademark highkick .... and connects (;

Actually, if you have an HDTV set, it's on the INHD channel almost every night. If you don't, just go into a Best Buy and watch around 9pm.

They also show the Arnold Classic, K-1, and the one thing you really, really don't need in HD: poker.

So if you buy the TV, do you then have to subscribe to an additional service to get that channel?

What does INHD stand for? I'll look into that Best Buy idea-but I thought they closed at 9

Oh, right. You need to subscribe to HD cable -- INHD is not available on Dish or DirecTV. The channel is free, though.

John, your lawn looks un. real. You should be proud. It's a lot of hard work. I've actually done some work on the side this summer landscaping a friend's house and it turned out pretty spectacular. He lives on a lake, and we built a beach, a few rock walls, and laid down sod. It's hard work, but man is it rewarding.

As a photography hobbyist, I like your macro of the tree blossom. What camera do you use? It has a nice macro zoom.

Nate, thanks. It's definitely a lot of work, but I'm really enjoying it. I've never had much of a green thumb, but I'm learning as much as I can and, like you said, the results are very rewarding!

Post some pictures of your friend's landscape if you can - it sounds awesome!

Jaybird, that's a bloom from our Sapphire Duranta tree. I took the shot with my Fuji S7000 digital.

As a Brit, i can say that the image of an American house ive always had in my mind looks the same as the front shot of your house. Especially the old stars and stripes flying by the door. And the "Yard of the Month" sign just tops it off !

All looks great.

Thanks Reno, we're enjoying the yard a lot. It's a lot of hard work for garden novices like us, but we're learning a little more every day.

John was huge! Muscular and ripped.

I felt like a pork chop. I was telling John, I've been doing Combat Conditioning and then marathon training, not much direct lifting at all, and it shows ... muscles are flat, stomach is bigger. Time to hit the weights!

I had two inspirations this weekend. I honestly wasn't sure if I wanted to do another lifting program, or if I wanted to continue body weight conditioning, etc and do something like biking. Well, after seeing the intensity of one of my clients in his gym this weekend, and then seeing just how far John's physique has come ... talk about inspiration! I was in the gym last night and am back on a weight-training cycle again.

FEELS GOOD!

Great job, John, you and your wife look terrific! Thanks for taking the time to share lunch with us. We enjoyed it!

Jeremy

A few things inspired the move.

For me, it made sense from a business perspective. I originally intended to have an Internet based business. Now, however, I see how much more of a difference I can make with my seminars. Orlando and Chicago are much better locations than the midwest (Chicago is easy to fly to from here).

For my wife, it makes sense for her business as well. She is a real estate agent and this is one of the hottest markets.

We have family in St. Petersburg and West Palm (my parents and hers) so from that standpoint, it was great as well.

Right now, we are relocated. We are in St. Petersburg temporarily until we find a place of our own, which will more than likely be in the same area.

Jeremy
