Thought I would put some pics up to show my starting point, in a way. Took some "before" pics -- the very unflattering kind, but I am not about to let those get out. lol Maybe one day.

For now, these are a couple of random pics of me...the goatee is gone now, because I admitted to myself (finally) that I didn't have it because I liked it....I kept it because it helped to hide my double chin(s). So, I shaved and am going to leave it shaved to really see the progress.

Be kind. :p

Good luck. First step is the hardest...at least until the second step :)
Just kidding. Do you have a 12 week plan? If not, consider writing one down and committing to sticking to it. Even if it's not the best plan, having a plan will do wonders for you, and if you stick to it for 12 weeks, you can do it for 12 years.

MGB: Yup, just finished laying it out two nights ago, finalizing it last night. Very beginnerish, but since I'm a beginner, it makes sense. lol And I know it's going to be difficult in all the steps...otherwise I would have been lean years ago. ;) But thanks for the support. :)

"second step" thing was just a joke. I'm sure you'll do great.
I just try to keep in mind getting in shape is a process, not an event. Sometimes gains are slow...sometimes they seem to come out of nowhere....and then they're slow again...and THEN....

Well, you get the idea. Good luck.

No worries - was taken as a joke too. :) And I appreciate the heads up on the fast/slow/fast/etc gains. This is my first time using weights, so I'll be in all sorts of surprises I think. lol

And on event vs process... That's one of those things that really struck a chord with me. It's one of those comments you KNOW well enough, but when you actually hear/read it laid out like that, it actually sinks in. More I think about it, the more it makes sense. Very nifty. :)

Anyway, back to the homework. Thanks again for the feedback. :)
