I need to restock on CoQ 10. I was using a brand from Europe I am not going there now.

Searching the interent I found this site (www.health-pages.com/) .

They talk about pharmeceutical grade Co Q 10. Of course I am always suspicious. The stuff is considerably cheaper than discounted online Pioneer brand--which is what I usually go with (unless it is a priduct I can get from Kent.)

Does anyone know about the site? it calls itself WHole Health Discount Center.
Also it recommends 1mg of CoQ10 for each pound body weight. What do people think of that?

Justitia,

As I am not a doctor, I cannot comment directly, only share what the doctors I work with recommend. I've seen recommendations from them for doses as high as 90mg per day, but cannot say I've seen much higher. These higher doses are mainly targeted towards individuals with existing cardiovascular conditions who may benefit from the higher doses. In fact, I work with a doctor who, given a specific condition, will share with me his case studies and recommendations, i.e. the actual amount he recommends of CoQ10 and other nutritionals for that condition.

The standard recommended dose I've heard from who I work with (there are no established government standards for this) for those concerned with supplementing with this is 30 - 60 milligrams per day. Our multivitamin contains 10mg per day in it, and then those who have cardiovascular concerns typically take 1 or 2 30mg capsules on top of that.

What country are you in? Our company has 56 30mg tablets, pharmaceutical grade, each containing CoQ10 and alpha-lopic acid, for $31.95. Australian is $58 AU, UK is $24.69 pounds to give an example of a few countries we distribute in.

The product is pharmaceutical grade and meets USP (http://www.usp.org) specifications for uniformity and disentigration.

The product you referred to definitely appears less expensive ... if it is pharmaceutical grade then the company cannot legally make that claim without adhering to the standards - however, because the supplement industry in the U.S. is self-regulated, there are companies who make those claims all of the time without substantiating them. The other question is what you would pay for shipping - they may ship to Europe, but how much will that add to the cost? If you are in one of the countries we are in, then we will have a local DC that the product is shipped from which typically saves costs.

I would say let us know your experience if you choose to go with this particular company, but since CoQ10 isn't really anything you "feel" it would be hard to determine if the product was pure or not! I've heard of the company you mentioned (nothing negative) and their products appear to be soundly formulated, but beyond that I can't add much!

I live in the US but for several years I lived half time in Europe and I bought my CoQ10 there because there are strong government controls on it--to ensure quality.

But I no longer go back to Europe now. So I am trying to decide on a new product. I certainly will consider yours, Jeremy.

Hate to ask a dumb question but what is CoQ10 and what does it do for you?
