The serving size is two tablespoons. The only problem with measuring that is that if you try to measure it, you can't get all of the peanut butter off of the spoon. How do you guys do it?

View Full Version : How do you measure a serving of peanut butter? French Spirit October 30th, 2004, 05:14 PM The serving size is two tablespoons. Knubb October 30th, 2004, 05:37 PM I take it from your question that you use your PB on a piece of bread or something, right? The answer is simple: put the spoon in your mouth. Some of us never even let any PB hit a piece of bread... featherz October 30th, 2004, 05:46 PM Assuming you do use bread, put bread on scale and zero it out. drop pb on bread until it hits the 32gm mark and eat. :P That's if you are really anal about it like I am. :) I do have a tablespoon thingie that has a 'slide' - you push it and it plops the pb out. I agree tho, off the spoon without bread sure is more fun. :) Human Clay October 30th, 2004, 08:27 PM Accurate-measuring tablespoon + nicely rounded butter knife with no teeth on it to make scraping the remnants out difficult. Taxcheat November 1st, 2004, 09:48 AM This is the same as featherz suggestion, but for those like me who prefer it without bread. Put a plate and a spoon on a scale. Zero the scale. Take the spoon & grab some peanut butter. Put the spoon on the plate. Check the weight, then enjoy. I find spoon and cup measurements really imprecise. The scale is easier and quicker for me. furches November 11th, 2004, 11:49 PM The serving size is two tablespoons. Take it from a man who eats more peanut butter than anyone else on the planet. First, make sure you get "all natural" peanut butter. The only ingredients are peanuts and salt. None of that partially hydrogenated crap and sugar they add to the regular PB. Second, take a cheap plastic measuring spoon and a butter knife. Trust me, I have PB EVERY morning of my life..... it works. rtestes November 12th, 2004, 12:49 AM Take it from a man who eats more peanut butter than anyone else on the planet. Or do you or others let it pile up some? That would of course affect the measure. Hort November 12th, 2004, 08:58 AM Simple solution- run the tablespoon under hot water for a moment to heat it up- the PB will slide right off. furches November 12th, 2004, 08:52 PM Do you level the PB off with the top of the spoon? The natural stuff is much less sticky and works well. rtestes November 12th, 2004, 09:29 PM Level it with the back of a butter knife. The natural stuff is much less sticky and works well. I just wondered who did that, I assumed everyone stuck it in and pulled it out, getting from a 1/2 tbsp to a full tbsp more. Glad to see a strict ruling. featherz November 13th, 2004, 12:44 AM I either level it off to the top of the tablespoon with a knife, or weigh it.
