View Full Version : SAW Movie
1FastGTX October 30th, 2004, 03:39 PM After seeing "The Grudge" last week and being really let down (just not scary!), I was hesitant to see "Saw" last night. But my girlfriend was really anxious to check this flick out so we hit Fandango.com and ordered 2 tickets for the 10:20 showing at Oviedo Mall.
It was MUCH better than I anticipated. I don't want to be posting spoilers but I liked this movie a lot and if you like a good, scary, suspenseful movie I'd say check it out! :tu:
There were a couple scenes where I was thinking "yeah right" or "okay that was corny," but all in all I think it was worth it. There was one scene that was so suspenseful and, well gross, that everyone in the theatre was like "ewwww...oooohhhh....noooooooo....sick!!!!"
Anyone else see it?
jtelling October 30th, 2004, 04:01 PM I've seen SAW described as "the thinking person's horror thriller". Is that so?
Destiny October 30th, 2004, 04:15 PM I went last night and I was dissapointed. The ending was a crazy twist but if it weren't for that I would have given it two thumbs down. The acting was pretty bad and half the time I couldn't tell whether the two main charachters were trying to portray serious desperation or just trying to make the audience laugh. I am the biggest chicken when it comes to horror movies and I wasn't scared for one second. Lots of lame one liners and lots of seriously unrealistic scenarios. But I guess thats kinda how all horror movies are so why am I complaining!?
The_Jackel October 30th, 2004, 05:42 PM Did anyone like the grudge? I don't think its out here yet but i really want to go see it? Looks good. How was sarah michelle gellar's acting?

Weird! See I really liked Saw, and I do NOT scare easily. I was not necessarily scared during this movie, but I guess more in suspense. Also it may be that I was so annoyed by seeing The Grudge last week (couldn't stand it!), so this movie just seemed so much better by comparison. :)

Totally agree.
Not scary, holes everywhere in the writing, and left too much to be undecided...............
Pretty crappy movie..............save your cash until it hits DVD. Won't be too long before that happens actually.

ShadowPenguin November 1st, 2004, 09:53 AM I've seen SAW described as "the thinking person's horror thriller". Is that so?
i'd agree with that, i went my best friend and he's REALLY hard to impress with horror flicks and he went ape shit over it.
There were a few parts that i thought where corny, for a second i thought it was gonna turn out to be just another cop chases killer movie but the twists kept me interested.
Definetly wasnt as much as a gory flick as was advertised but it had its moments. It was more of a skull f#$k movie and I LOVE THOSE!!!
all in all....2 thumbs up. I dig it.
Bo Jones November 8th, 2004, 03:00 PM I am not interested in Saw or The Grudge, both look pretty corny from what I've seen and the reviews. However, I have still not fully recovered from The Ring. What a ridiculously good movie. I am a huge horror fan, but moreso of the old stuff (Halloween 1 & 2 come to mind.) I thought the genre was dead but The Ring really brought me back. One of my favorite movies ever. Also, off topic and old, but did anyone see Jason X? It was totally lame and campy but for whatever reason incredibly entertaining.
The_Jackel November 8th, 2004, 03:32 PM Well, i saw the grudge two days ago. i thought it was a pretty good film although confusing at times.
I would most definitely, without a doubt, recommend anyone wanting to see this film, to go and see it now in the cinemas for the best possible experience. I can almost certainly guaruntee it will not be the same on DVD!
Regards,
Nick
Skoorb November 8th, 2004, 03:35 PM I still want to see the saw, and yes I think that the ring was the scariest movie I've ever seen. Movies are basically unable to scare me, but that one definitely teetered with the idea :)
ShadowPenguin November 8th, 2004, 07:34 PM oh yah hands down the Ring was both scary as hell as well as one doosy of a mind job flick...i havent been that terrified in a long friggin time.
hobowitharolex November 8th, 2004, 07:55 PM i thought the saw was awesome until the end, but im guessing they did that so they can make a saw 2
btw, i thought the ring sucked

no way man!! the end was the best part...actually it was what saved the movie for me.
hobowitharolex November 8th, 2004, 08:53 PM yeah, but the killer got away
Flex November 8th, 2004, 09:34 PM SAW was a great movie (it is good because of the twist), and also had some kind of good moral too it. The people he picked to play his game because they didn't value life, now they do (The ones who have lived). If you haven't seen it, don't just go see it because you think that it is really gory...it really isn't compared to what I have seen. They actually had a NC-17 version of SAW but they had to take about 10 minutes of gore out to make it R. It is a bit scary though. Saving Private Ryan's begginning had to be more gory than this (My personal opinion).
Yes they are making SAW 2 for Halloween 2005...I don't know how they are going to make it since you know who the killer is now.
SAW 2: http://movieweb.com/news/news.php?id=5736
Flex November 8th, 2004, 09:40 PM Oh and about The Grudge, you MUST see this film in the theaters...if you don't you will NOT get the same effect! :tucool:
The Grudge was just ok, not very scary and poor plot...
ShadowPenguin November 8th, 2004, 10:29 PM of course he got away thats what makes it cool in my opinion...
we knew who the killer was in Halloween, Friday the thirteenth, Nightmare on Elm Street, Childs Play...and yet those are horror classics.
eh, to each his own...i'll go see SAW2 i just hope its alot bloodier.
