I gave up eating bread in my cutting diet and am suffering for it. I have less energy and think I am going through a sort of detox. I have replaced the bread with pasta and baked potatoes. I have noticed that I have got a bit trimmer since giving it up. My question is whether I should start eating it again to bump up my energy for training or stick it out and blast through the other side?. I was eating 7 slices a day. I thought it was too much.

White bread and pasta are close to interchangeable in a diet; glycemically speaking, they're near the same value and tend to be less conducive to a cutting cycle. A regular plain white potato is very high on the GI, and aren't a great idea unless they're eaten post-workout as they tend to cause a sharp rise in blood sugar... unless you want the insulin spike post workout, I'd stay away from potatoes when cutting.
Arnold called bread "white death".
I wouldn't eat too much of it. Seven slices is far too much. Gravitate towards whole grain breads if you must as they're a mid-GI food. They make decent low carb breads these days that taste good. My staple lunch is two toasted pieces with some peanut butter. I need my carbs centered in my day, pre and post workout. I minimize them otherwise earlier and later in the day.

I use ezekiel no flour sprouted grain bread. It's yummy! Not sure what the GI is on it off hand, however. No sugars, just sprouted grains/lentils.

I don't usually pay attention to or rely on the glycemic index of my foods or in planning my diet. But... when on a cutting cycle, low GI carbs/foods are better with the exception of your post-workout meal/shake. You want the insulin spike at that point to more readily deliver nutrients to your muscles.
