Yikes! You were out shooting at old men, weren't you ;) Believe it or not, Lisa and I used to share an apartment right off that very road before we bought our house about a decade ago. Man, I guess things have changed over that way. When we lived there it was nice and quiet! I'm glad the man is okay... Bluestreak October 26th, 2007, 05:30 PM Just a tidbit of info... but the date stamp on that story is Feb. 10, 2004. ;) For the record, that area is just north of Pine Hills, or "Crime Hills", as the locals call the area. I wouldn't be found out there after dark, no way. Just a few weeks ago, a police officer off-duty was murdered in that area as he went to get some cash out of an ATM. Violence and gun play are just becoming a cost of doing business for criminals in this town. And it's getting worse by the day. By the end of next summer, I'm not going be here anymore, either. I'm movin' south to be with my best friend and in a much safer community out of the suburbs. -R mastover October 26th, 2007, 05:35 PM And it's getting worse by the day. That's why I've never left the south Bronx. It just feels so safe and homey here. :) Coachese October 26th, 2007, 05:48 PM Just a tidbit of info... but the date stamp on that story is Feb. 10, 2004. ;) No kidding Rog. I went into the basement for this thread - for no real reason. ;) Bluestreak October 26th, 2007, 07:19 PM I hear you bro. That's why I've never left the south Bronx. He was the plant manager back in the mid-seventies. I remember it specifically because he had cleared the back of the plant in the loading dock area so that the employees who drove to work could park their cars inside the building so they couldn't be stolen or stripped. I'm going to see my granddad tomorrow. Is the old Good-O plant still there? He'd get a kick out of hearing about it! -R mastover October 27th, 2007, 05:22 AM  I remember going work with my grandfather on Boone Avenue at the Good-O soda plant in the Bronx when I as a kid. Across the street there is 24 hour Bronx Towing and next to Good-O is a body and fender joint. LOL |
