View Full Version : Whoops
skelk February 10th, 2004, 06:59 PM I am mad about peanuts, and thought, hey, high fat, but really hard to digest. Anyway, been eating a bowl a day for about three, four days a week (been doing this for months and months and lost weight anyway) Just decided to work out how many calories were in those buggers and each bowl was 650 Calories. Whoops. Yesterday I had two bowls, plus a few handfuls. must have hit about 1500 in pure peanuts. I cannot give them up totally, but will try. I need to get past 14% BF...
Does anyone have any munchy alternatives?
corbint February 10th, 2004, 08:39 PM drop the peanuts, they are very high in sodium, and the fat content is sub-optimal. look toward almonds, as their fat is much better for you, but limit yourself to 1/2 cup A DAY. also, just because the nuts have protein in them doesnt mean they are fantastic. also, the protein in nuts is incomplete, not complete like whey protein or chicken.

Bump. Great info. :tu:
In addition to almonds, walnuts are also a good source of unsaturated fat. However, like almonds, they are an incomplete source of protein. It's mostly a matter of preference which you eat more often (almonds or walnuts), although walnuts are more dense in fat (2.6g per walnut compared to .6g per almond).
Trinity February 11th, 2004, 05:35 PM Why is it important to avoid sodium? Don't your kidneys filter out extra salt?
skelk February 11th, 2004, 06:04 PM But I love the salty goodness of the peanuts!
Almonds here I come... Munch munch.
Chopaholic February 11th, 2004, 06:06 PM but i love the hoppy lushness of beer!
:D
save them for a freeday or cheat meal... you might even enjoy them all the more for your dedication and sacrifice.

your body requires sodium, but too much can and will elevate blood pressure, etc.
check out http://www.whvc.org/prevention/limit_sodium.htm for more info!
stepsinsc February 11th, 2004, 08:04 PM just get the unsalted ones. and limit your intake. I never have more than 1/4cup, maybe once every 2-3 days.
