I've strugled with this dilema quiet a while now. When I get to the gym I want to give it all I can but alot of times I dont have the energy to make the most of it. I have been using energy suplements to give me a nice boost of energy and to help me go an extra mile. But now I've noticed that I have trouble sleeping at night after I use it and that doesn't help me much, since I become even more tired due to lack of sleep.
What do I do? :(

You need to stop taking ephedrine immediately. That is a dangerous substance and has been banned in many states. Bad, bad stuff.

Instead, focus on eating a balanced diet. This includes all three types--carbs, fats, and proteins. Yes, fats. Your body needs fat to function properly. Look around the threads here for awhile and get some ideas as to what people are eating. A lot of us here like to eat several small meals a day, with a 40-30-30 split (40% of our cals from carbs, 30 from fats, and 30 from protein). Eat clean foods, in other words, fresh ingredients that you prepare youself. Stay away from prepared foods and pre-packaged meals.

If you eat well, your energy will rise, and you won't have to worry about taking dangerous supplements like ephedrine.

I have a balanced diet, read all my labels, and eat 3 regular meals a day plus small meals in between, the only thing I try to stay away from is desert...

Instead of having 3 large meals a day, try eating 6 small meals. Get the same calories, but they are spread out. It'll keep your energy levels high.

Maybe you need to try and get more carbs durring the day. Or just get better sleep, has anything changed in your daily routine that might be contributing to your sleeplessnes?

Not to hijack the thread, but ephedra is illegal in the United States, while ephedrine is still available (even at c-stores).

Your advice is good, as a clean diet will yield a constant supply of energy and will not throw off sleeping patterns.

To much sex/masturbation can lower your energy levels, so can negative thought processes, so can stress.

Cut down on what you think may be the root of the problem, go back to your past, remember where it started. Do you go to sleep at a regular time? If not I recommend getting to bed by 10pm at latest and working up at 6am, get your body into the routine and it will work good for you. Remember managing your body is very important, but so is managing your mind you need to keep them in balance to have them functioning correctly.

Tens Dady: You said that caffeine takes 12 hours to be eliminated from the body. This information appears to be incorrect, according to an indepth study I did two years ago it takes 36 hours to remove alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine from the body. These chemicals can also be stored in fat deposits within your body and still elicit minor affects over it.

Caffeine, Alcohol, Nicotine, all poisons that are bad for the mind and body.

Radonix, back up what you say.

To much alcohol and caffine are bad for your body, but in moderation, neither is. You may not want to partake in either one and that is great, but that doesn't make them bad.

I was an alcohol and drug abuse counselor in the military. I have been to a lot of training (god and bad) about the effects of drugs. It is a proven fact that a little red wine can be very good for you (and no you can not find the same results from grape juice).

This doesn't mean that everyone should drink red wine and drink it all the time, but it also shows that done properly, it can help people.

You just need to be careful about making blanket statement.

She said she was using energy supplements, not ephedra or ephedrine. Also with any energy supplement you have to cycle on and off so that your body will not go to the stay awake mode. :tu:

Water water water!

Water water water!

If you don't drink enough water,

And enough is a lot,

You won't have any energy.

Water water water!

hey girlcop!
Thanks, but :o I did say ephedrine first but corrected after recieving the first responce...sowie :(

Thanks alot that does make sence...

Thanks to all you guys! your responces are helpful and some are very educational :tu:

I have been not using ephedrine or any other energy supplements for the past week and I have noticed that I can sleep through most of the night now, but I still didn't feel much energy. Now I increaced the "good" carb. daily intake and increase the amount of water I drink...I guess we will see where it takes me....Oh and also I used to sleep @ 8pm every night and wake up @ 6am, I'm trying to stay up till 9-10pm now to see if perhaps I oversleep or go to bed too early. I've done that for the past two days and it seems to be having some positive effect....

Thanks guys/gals :tucool:

One thing I did when I first started was drink a shake about 20 mins before my workout. It was the same as my PWO (AllTheWhey Chocoloate Blend, 2% milk and 1 banana). Now that I don't drink one before my workout, I have noticed a little decrease in energy, but once I get into my workout, I never think about it again. I do drink alot of water during the day and make sure I have eaten at least 5 meals before my workout (I workout at night). You might want to try a pre-workout shake.

I am not an expert by any means, but we have alot of people on this site who can tell you if this is bad or not.
