Hi, :D

Went to my local nutrition & supplements store today to get some "All the Whey" protein powder, but unfortunatly the didn't have it so I bought Carb WatchersProPlete Gold (http://www.labrada.com/store/proteinShakes.htm) instead.

It cost a lot more (over double) than "All the Whey" (http://www.allthewhey.com/wpi_orange.html), what is the reason for this? Isn't it pretty much the same stuff?

The girl in the shop said I should have one shake before and one after workout, using 1.5 scoop of powder for each shake. Is this okay?

One of the big differences in price comes from the fact All The Whey doesn't distribute. You are buying it directly from them thus eliminating a middle man basically.

I'm sure it's OK, but you may be going through more that you need. If it is expensive, I'd use just 20-40g (depending on body mass) of protein in your post work out shake (with carbs of course) and otherwise stick to food, or suppliment meals that don't have the amounts of protein you'd like.

Ordering online is the way to go for these products whichever you choose.

Thank for all your replies,
I didn't know that u could only get All the Whey online, I will order now so I have it before I run out of my proplete.

Another question, can anyone tell me a bit more about whey, what is it? untill today I thought it was the name of the brand... :o

NEdge: so before my workout I should just have some protein rich food instead? And then have a 1 scoop shake right after working out?

1. Go to www.allthewhey.com and click on "About Whey" towards the top of the page. You'll learn a lot from there about whey :tu:

2. About two hours before your workout, eat a lean protein source (chicken breast, tuna, egg whites, white fish, etc) with either a fat source (nuts, flax oil, olive oil, etc) or a complex carb (oats, brown rice, etc). Try both options to see how they effect your workouts. I like having a protein/fat meal just because I feel less full during my workouts--weird, huh?

3. Immediately after your workout, have a scoop of whey with a scoop of dextrose (you can order some from www.kentnutrition.com) in some water.

4. Anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and half (that's what I do at least), have a lean protein source and a complex carb (and even some veggies if you want)

***I do this for my cutting routine***

Guys, please feel free to criticize/correct my advice if need be--just trying to help out.

Peace.

Just what I was looking for, hadn't really worked out my pre/post workout diet yet, but now I think I got it pretty much figured out. :tu:

3. : what is dextrose, and what does it do?
4. : do you mean 45min -1.5 hrs after the workout?

I usually work out sometime between 4pm and 8pm, does that matter, physically I mean... Is it better to do it in the morning?

1. Dextrose is a very simple carbohydrate--basically blood sugar. It's very sweet. Has a very high GI (raises your insulin levels). So therefore, when taken in conjunction with whey protein and water in your post-workout, it's able to shuttle the protein immediately to your protein hungry muscles. But ONLY drink this shake after lifting weights.

2. No. 45 mins to 1.5 hrs after you post-workout shake :tu: (which is basically 45 mins to 1.5 hrs after your workout, if you drink the shake IMMEDIATELY after lifting).

3. It's better to do your cardio workout in the morning if you can, and lift weights in the time that you specified above (4pm to 8pm)--you want to separate your cardio and lifting workouts, if possible. And yes, between 4pm and 8pm is perfect time (just listen to your body and how it reacts to those times, ya know?). Just make sure you get your post workout shake (pwo) and your POST-post workout meal (ppwo) into your body before you go to sleep.

Take care man. Good luck.

P.S. I see you're from Italy. I'm actually black, but I'm learning Italian because I want to take a trip there soon--a very beautiful language, man :tu:

Similar to what I do, but I perfer a mainly protein/carb mix beforehand for exactly the same reason - I feel less full, but still have good energy for the workout. It may depend on your metabolism and how long you wait until after your meal before working out. I don't particularly seperate fat and carbs so that meal will contain some fat, but mabe only 10% of calories.
