In the first picture I was 251! Man...I can't even look at it without thinking....."What was I thinking!?!" The second pic was taken about 6 months later @ 195. My goal was 10% bf and well....I didn't get there. I fell off the wagon in Oct. and put on 5 lbs. since then. I think it's time to get serious again and get rid of what's left and keep it off. I want to see those abs! :) So this thread will keep me accountable. I will update it with my progress.

Welcome to the forums, matthewvm. :tu:

You've done an excellent job so far! You really don't have that far to go now. You'll knock that 5 pounds you put on back off in a couple of weeks - next stop: abs. :)

Keep up the hard work and keep us posted. Good luck to you!

Big diff, great job man.

Get yourself a cheapo digicam, findem for <$20 bucks now.

Id say its the best investment i have made.

Great progress so far. I did a similar thing. I lost a lot of weight and got down to about 12% bodyfat and although my goals were still to get down to single figures I was happy with my progress and before I knew it I had kind of slacked off and them I realised I'd gained 2 kgs.

Now I've jumped back on the horse and I'm not far from my goals.

Keep up the good work, I look foward to seeing your updates as we are in a similar situation. :tu:

Hey everyone! I've had a few setbacks but wanted to say that I'm back. Started two weeks ago and have lost 6 lbs. so far. I'm back to the "after" pic at the top of this post...so maybe at the end of next week I will put up another. Thanks again for the support from everyone...I really appreciate it!!

You may have noticed the date between this post and my last. If not take a look, yeah, it's been that long. I don't want to fill up a post with excuses so I'm going to get to the point. I am now back up to 246. Between the last post and now I've been up and down twice, as high as my current weight and as low as 182 and I'm tired of this constant battle, thing is, I don't even think of it that way. It's almost like I have the attitude of well, I know I can take the weight off so whenever I get to it I will. You know the crazy thing? I've helped a few friends and my wife get into shape, creating a diet and workout routine for them to follow, over 142lbs. lost between the four of them??? What's that about?....and I can't motivate myself??

My daughter gave me a challenge? Believe it or not she will be graduating from high school in June '08 and wants me to be at my goal weight by then, I gave her my word that I would be, and my wife and I are going to have another baby. Our little boy is due to arrive on Dec. 23rd, I know, kinda stinks for him. I've heard all about the Christmas baby thing.

Anyway, long story longer, I thought I would post my progress here to help keep me accountable, motivated and to let others know that no matter how many times you fail it's never too late to make a new start. :tu:

If you are still awake, thanks for reading.

That's great progress, and it sounds like you have solid motivation on your side this time. I don't say good luck, because you aren't lucky to wake up 50lbs. lighter one day. You work hard and it happens.

So, work hard!

Thanks Mapultoid, I appreciate it.

I changed my food around some (needed more calories) and I will add in weight training three times a week starting Monday, cardio (6 days) will get done in the morning and then weights late afternoon, early evening.

All the best for your challenge, here's hoping you can get it down and stay down! :gl::bb:

Those are two very key motivational factors you have there. A HS daughter who wants to see her dad succeed and a future son who's yet to meet you. That's all the motivation in the world to me.

You're right, it is all the motivation I need.

I think the added calories was the way to go. My cardio workout today was the best so far, I felt really strong. I upped the calories three days ago from 1800 to 2400. Later today will be my first weight session, looking forward to it. :tu:

Ok, another quick update. No missed workouts and on track with my nutrition. Staying between 2200 to 2400 and at 40/40/20. I have to admit I thought I would've put up a bigger number. I don't know how accurate my scale is but my bf% went from 31% down to 27%??

Here's a side by side, nasty shadow in the first photo, needless to say I will no longer use the flash.
