Bustmybutt Wed, October 20th, 2004, 11:23 AM Hi there, my name is Diana, and I reside in Alberta, Canada. I have been working out on and off for several years. I dabbled in bodybuilding, and suffered a huge rebound with weight gian when I stopped. I also quit smoking and that did not help matters much either. I had to stop training for several months due to burnout, and have now just been able to get back. Before now, when I started training again, my body would go into such a state of shock, I would balloon up in weight from water and fat, NOT muscle. It was a terrible thing and nobody could even understand why.
Now, I am doing a totally different training program from Body Training Systems. They offer Body Pump, Body Combat, and several other classes that are way more fun then lifting free weights alone. I generally do two classes back to back 5-6 days a week. I love them, and they whoop my butt like nothing else ever has before.
I was stalled in weight loss and was not losing inches for several months. Since starting BTS, I have already started losing inches within a month. I have not weighed myself, since I get obessive about it, and dictate my whole day from a set on numbers.
I do get a little compulsive with my workouts, and do tend to overtrain. I can't really help it, since "I want what I want" and will work myself into the ground to get it.
I plan on doing hard and intense areobic exercise for the next 2-3 months to strip myself down, and then I can see what I have left, and build back up from there. I might be happy with the body I end up with, or maybe I'll want to bulk up my delts and biceps again... who knows?
I also have three dogs which are my life. I never had any children, the dogs are it! I have to go take them for a cold and snowy daily hike now. Nice to meet you all.
Nadine Wed, October 20th, 2004, 06:35 PM Hey! Hows it going? I am also a fairly new member to this site. I also reside in Alberta....Calgary to be more specific. You were mentioning classes such as body pump. They have those classes at the gym I go to and have always wanted to take them but just didn't know how much fun they would be and whether or not they compared (calorie wise) to my original workout. A little imput would be great.
Thanks!
Bustmybutt Wed, October 20th, 2004, 06:59 PM Pretty small world, huh? I live in Calgary too.
Trust me, these BTS classes ROCK!!! I have never had the level of workout that I get from the classes. Try the Body Flow class first, just to get comfortable with a group setting. Then do Body Pump. I also do Body Combat and try the New Body and Great Results classes. I did not fare as well with those due to knee problems.
There is a site for Body Training systems that outlines all of their work outs. These classes are awesome and they are always changing and updating them.

These classes are my saving grace since I trained alone and would always stagnate. In these class settings, you also tend to push yourself a little harder.
Oh, these classes burn about 500 calories an hour. I get better results from these classes then when I was doing 800 calorie an hour workouts. These classes just always keep you moving and your body guessing what it will do next.
I better split. I have a Body Combat class and a Body flow class in an hour. Check the classes out, you won't be sorry. You will be sore the next day though. :o

Skoorb Wed, October 20th, 2004, 08:34 PM Goodluck! I used to live in Saskatchewan, and then more recently NS, and now the US for a few years :) I've only visited Calgary once though, and it was reaaaaaaaly cold :D
Bustmybutt Thu, October 21st, 2004, 11:27 AM Yeah, we are butt deep in snow already! It sucks when I leave the gym with wet hair, let me tell you. It is dark at 4pm now and I have six months of crappy weather to look forward to... I walk my dogs for a few miles everyday by the river and it is really cold by the water. They don't care of course!
My only saving grace is the gym.
It does get cold here, but we get Chinooks to break the deep freeze quite often. I sure hope one shows up soon.
What made you move away from Canada?

Hey Skoorb, where did you live in NS? You sound like myself because I lived in the states for a while, then NS and now Calgary. Your right, it is cold here.
Makes it hard for much outdoor activities, other than skiing....
Bustmybutt Thu, October 21st, 2004, 02:42 PM You're not kidding...
I took my dogs to the river today and slide all the way there and back again in my 4x4. The walk was devine though, since I love it at Bearspaw Dam. I'll have to leave for the gym even earlier today to make sure I get to my classes on time.

Skoorb Thu, October 21st, 2004, 08:36 PM I lived in Bedford (part of the grander Halifax city now) from the age of 10 to 23 (26 now). I moved because I was out of work for a while, and work is hard enough in Halifax at the best of times. It was 2001 and I was looking for it in IT. Not easy! So, I got a job in Al, and the rest is history. If we move back to Canada it will almost certainly be Ontario, and possibly Alberta. I don't want my kids to have to grow up in NS and move too...
D.A.C. Fri, October 22nd, 2004, 08:00 AM Hello my fellow Albertans! *Wave*
Bustmybutt Fri, October 22nd, 2004, 06:02 PM We were tiling a hotel in Leduc and staying in Edmonton. I have never been so cold in my life! I would be driving home to Calgary and literally had to turn my heater down. Our saving grace is the Chinooks. All the snow we got in the past few days is now melting like crazy. I love it, but having a clean vehicle is impossible.
