Safari 1.2 wheezes when replying from all the dancing smilies, sucking up 45% of CPU when they're displayed.
this is the only vBulletin site I visit much that lags badly w/Safari so I dunno if there's something unique about its setup or not. maybe it's just the smilies. or maybe it's just Safari. yeah I know I can use Firebird and I do on my office Wintel but I'm pretty stuck on Safari here.

Keep in mind Safari is based on KHTML, whereas Firebird is (obviously) based on Gecko.
There's a new Firebir-- er, FireFox out. I think it's pretty and renders the site rather well. This is the only vBulletin site I visit at all, so no comparisons for me :(
In general, Firefox/bird/whatever seems nicer than Safari -- believe me, that's not easy to say ;)

I'm using IE (bleh) and while the speed seems to be fine, all of the smilies seem to force some weird screen redraws or something. The cursor locator goes erratic when I'm typing this message. It's not just a steady blink, but a blink that seems to coincide with the smilies
While this doesn't really affect IE, it might be the culprit for what's happeneing with other browser setups. Just my 2 cents.
