Jim Mon, February 9th, 2004, 07:55 PM I bought a small BF tracker. I'm about 220 (I've to get a better scale tomorow, I'll update that with the correct one on Wedensday morning). Well apparently I'm at 33% body fat. Is that...... possible for being 220? That looks more like what someone at 250+ would be at, which was my old weight.
Amino Mon, February 9th, 2004, 07:57 PM That would put you in your 150s on lean body mass. so depending on your height, no, it's not too far out of spec.
How much did you weigh when you look back and realised that you were slim?
Jim Mon, February 9th, 2004, 08:00 PM I was never slim. I'm 6'1 though.
Amino Mon, February 9th, 2004, 08:15 PM What was the weight you most remember being? when I was 18, mine was 12.5 stone which is 175lbs or round about 80kg. I remember being that weight for a long time. Now I'm 225lbs... I'm also 6'4" so 175lbs was a little on the skinny side of the scales...
I've put on a little lean mass but lots of fat...
Jim Mon, February 9th, 2004, 08:21 PM I was at 250, a bout 18 stone I think, in October 2003 for a long long long time. I've dropped to 220 odd pounds, 15 stone I think, now, but I only first checked my BF% within the last few days, I didn't think it would be this high though. Ah well, just need to work harder then.
Amino Mon, February 9th, 2004, 08:26 PM Get in there and hammer it bro. You'll be fine! All these methods of measuring bodyfat have taught me one thing... Stick with one way of measuring bodyfat till I see abs. Then I know I'm between 8 and 10%. That's the only way to be completely sure. But it is very possible that you have 30%.
Being fair though, my measurement points to being 23.74% but I reckon mine is closer to 28%. Can't explain why, it's just that comparing against other peoples pictures and looking at their height and build, 23 % just doesn't seem right.
The only reason I'm checking for bodyfat% though is to make sure I'm not killing Lean mass, otherwise, I wouldn't give a stuff what it was! I just want my abs!
Keep in there, you'll do great regardless.
Jingo Mon, February 9th, 2004, 08:30 PM i'm 5'10, was 194 and 26%, so it doesn't seem that far off.
Just try to think that the higher your body fat, the more easy weight you have to lose :)
HunkOLove Mon, February 9th, 2004, 09:31 PM I don't know why but I think it's cool when UK people speak in terms of stone for weight. Where did the measurement for stone come from anyway? :D
Jim Tue, February 10th, 2004, 03:31 PM I haven't got a clue lol, I measure myself in both Pounds and Stones though, Pounds is easier to keep track off.
