I am 82 days out from my 32nd birthday. I just happen to be one of those people that dread birthdays. I was not always like this, in fact this did not start until midway thru my 29th year. 30 hit me like a tonne of bricks, I was a mess for 6 months before and 6 months after. I am not going to have another birthday at a bodyweight of plus 200 lbs.
Tommorrow Cory Babstock and I are starting a 12 week (minus two days) challenge. We have not picked a bet/wager yet but we are going to put up something if one of us bails. For the last 8 weeks I have been getting back into the fitness lifestyle, and was doing well until the last two weeks. I took a small step backwards but not that far. I am still down 3 inches on my waist from 8 weeks ago while my weight is down 4 or 5 pounds (had been down 11 lbs at one point). As they say life has gotten in the way, I have been working on my part time business and working nearly 60 hours a week in my J.O.B. But that is no excuse, no matter how busy I must make time for my health or I will be no good to anyone. It was not a big step backwards, but a step back none the less
Cory has set a goal to lose 30 lbs and I plan to do the same. I told him my Birthday present to me will be to weigh 185 come my birthday. I have been making half hearted attempts for 2 years to get under 200 but would get as close as 200 or 203 and then bounce back up. No More.
I took the requisite, hair all messed up unshaven “before pic” this am. Believe me I was not trying to make myself look worse than I am right now, but it still looks better than 8 weeks ago. I look forward to this head to head challenge with my buddy, and I am counting on my competitive side to keep me on track on the days when I have to work 12 hours, spend 3 hours on my home business, have time for my children and get my workout in. You want to get a job done give it to a busy person they say. Well lets see how that works for me!
I will post EVERYDAY, minimally my workout and eating to remain accountable (this is part of our challenge so it will get done). I welcome any and all feedback, critiques, kicks in the butt, along the way. I will be posting daily here, but will do my best to keep it mostly about my fitness related stuff (eating and training) and will post more of my everyday stuff at my site.
Here are my starting stats taken at 6:15 am this morning before going into work some overtime! Took them this morning because today is Thanksgiving in Canada, and well I knew I was going to have a big butt meal tonight and I would be bloated all to heck tomorrow! Lol
My Starting Stats and Goals
Height 5’9 (you think I could still grow at 32?)
measurements 10-Oct-04
weight 212
bodyfat % 29.06
fat weight 61.65
lean weight 150.39
chest 45 6/8--43 5/8
waist navel 42 6/8--39 6/8
waist below 44 1/8--41
left arm 14 7/8--12 7/8
right arm 15--13 1/8
left forearm 12 1/4
rt forearm 12 3/8
left thigh 25 1/2
right thigh 25 1/2
left calf 16
right calf 15 1/2
Goals
1. I will weigh 185 on my birthday Dec 31, 2004 (current 212)
2. I will achieve a 36 inch waist at the navel by Dec 31st, 2004 (currently 42 6/8)
3. I will fit into size 32 jeans (currently tight 36, but mostly 38’s)
4. I will post my eating and workouts 6 days a week minimum
5. I will flat bench 205 for 6 unassisted reps (best ever 205 for 4 spotted by Tom Walsh, current….no idea )
I am not following any specific eating or nutrition plan as of yet but I do have some general guidelines I am following.
Weights 4 or 5 days a week depending on back one bodypart a day (or doubling up on weeks I only work out 4 days)
Cardio 6 days a week 3 days more intense 3 days of walking or whatever less intense.
Eating is going to be 5-6 smallish meals, of proper portions sizes. I am going to stay away from my trigger foods, and junk. White bread, cookies, muffins and such are weak spots for me so as long as I stay away from junk and eat the proper portion sizes I am considering it mission accomplished for that day. I am starting on a 6 days clean 1 free day a week deal at first but that’s likely to change if my free day gets out of hand.
So there it is. Here we go!
