Erm, chives usually make it take a bit better. A knob of butter does too - its still healthier than other things. d_samuylin Tue, February 10th, 2004, 10:30 PM Anyone have some special ingrediants to make Cottage Cheese a little more tasty. I cannot stand it alone. Any suggestions would be great! :eat: I buy fat free cottage cheese with peach. Or if I buy a regular I usually add a half of teaspoon of sugar. I understand that most people will not like this idea, but it is only a half of teaspoon and it works for me. My wife puts a strawberry in it. Whatever works for you. Try both ways and figure out what you like the most. I did not like the regular cottage cheese at first too. I got used to it. nc_fit Wed, February 11th, 2004, 09:44 AM Easy: Add any decent FatFree yogurt (Yoplait) to the portion of cottage cheese... mix it up and it's a near perfect complete meal (carbs/protein/fat). The yogurt flavor (blueberry, strawberry, etc..) masks the flavor of the cottage cheese very well. Pancakes, muffins, etc. Just cannot find a way to make it decent on it's own. karatetricker Wed, February 11th, 2004, 11:50 AM I found these pre-flavored low-fat cottage cheeses at Pathmark and the one I tried (Apple Cinnamon Raisin) was amazing! I went back next day and bought a bunch more. A bit more expensive, but tastes amazing and quite healthy. NME Wed, February 11th, 2004, 12:57 PM I have two sure-fire ways to make cottage cheese not only palletable, but rather tasty. High Protein Cottage Cheese 1 cup fat free cottage cheese 1 1/2 tsp Splenda 1 scoop Optimum Nutrition Chocolate Mint Whey Protein Dessert Cottage Cheese 1 cup fat free cottage cheese 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract 1 1/2 tsp Splenda Sprinling of Ground Cinnamon (a once over the cottage cheese is usually good) Both methods (particularly the dessert method) make the stuff immeasurably better tasting and thus easier to eat. karatetricker Wed, February 11th, 2004, 12:59 PM What is this 'splenda' I keep seeing mentioned? andi Wed, February 11th, 2004, 02:13 PM What is this 'splenda' I keep seeing mentioned? http://splenda.com/ Two Step Wed, February 11th, 2004, 03:23 PM I find that a bit of fruit mixed in make it quite tasty- especially pineapple! Jacko Wed, February 11th, 2004, 03:28 PM Personally I love cottage cheese as it is out of the tub, but every now and then I'll chop up some green onions and toss them in. Yummy! Wow, I got to try those two recipes, I usually just put some sugar free pankake syrup on it, but that's getting boring quick. I |
