Hi, could someone advise me on what would be the best excercises to do using a pair of dumbells and ordinary household itmes? I have no money / time for the gym, and I dont have space for the big items for me to buy so please dont say I should take those steps. I would be very grateful for any info.

Thanks

these excerises work your whole body and will give you a total body workout to keep things in balance.

body squats
push-ups
pull-ups
sit-ups
dips

all can easily be done in the house, using just your body and floor, an I beam, or two counters or chairs of similiar height.

You can get an effective workout in with just dumbbells but definitely invest in a barbell and some plates when you get some money saved.

Or just find a cheap gym! :)

Here's some good dumbbell (and other simple) exercises (assuming also that you have a bench):

BACK
-------------
-1 arm dumbbell Rows (not my favorite back exercise but ...)
-Bent over dumbbell rows (just thought of this, might make you fall down though lol)
-Pull ups (if you have a bar)
-Dumbbell deadlifts (never thought of this either, not sure how good it would be)

CHEST
-------------
-Dumbbell press; flat, incline, decline (if the bench will do this)
-Dumbbell pullovers (I love these)

BICEPS
-------------
-Dumbbell curls (alternate, incline, etc.)
-Chin ups (if you have the bar)

TRICEPS
-------------
-Overhead extension, 1 arm or 2
-Dumbbell Kickbacks
-Reverse Pushups (use a bench and a chair)
-Dumbbell Skull Crushers (hold a dumbbell in each hand)

TRAPS
-------------
-Dumbbell Shrugs
-Dumbbell upright rows (never thought of this until now, not sure how well it would work)

DELTS
-------------
-Dumbbell military press
-Arnold Press
-Lateral Raises
-Front Raises
-1 arm side laterals

QUADS/HAMSTRINGS
-------------
-Dumbbell squats
-Dumbbell Lunges

CALVES
-------------
-Dumbbell calf raises (if they're heavy enough; put a board under your toes)

FOREARMS
-------------
-Dumbbell wrist curls
-Dumbbell reverse curls (never tried this either, just thought of it)
