View Full Version : Fitness equipment at Wal-Mart
Bobby Lee February 9th, 2004, 11:53 AM Well believe it not, I got a lot of stuff at Wal-Mart. I got an Olympic barbell for 35, plates with bold GOLD's GYM written on them for about 40 cents a pound. K-Mart is having a big sale on hex dumbells. But I was only able to get up to 25 lbs. Oh yeah, Wal-Mart had the weight plate trees there for 27 dollars. Also a product of Gold's Gym. Then I got the padded collar for the barbell for squats, gloves, heart rate monitor, and I got the dumb bell holder at K-mart. And you can buy plates at your convenience as you need more. I got a Linex X-360 upright bike from eFitnessdirect.com. They are on sale for 399.00. Then I got the Powertec Rack and bench from Homegym warehouse. Will send pics later. But my wife is loving the whole fitness deal.
Proctorjc April 26th, 2004, 08:33 PM Well, I'm finally working on getting my butt to working out. I've currently got (I should really get some pictures of these things...) a weightbench (that is horribly horribly claustrophobic), a 5' bar with a total of 70 cement weights, and two 5# dumbells.
I'm seeing a Doc on Wednesday about a knee injury from October and that my elbows "grind." The grinding in my elbows keep me from doing just about all chest-related exercises -- no pushups (I liked those!), no bench press (I liked those, too!, ecetera.
So while in my zeal, I somewhere came across a 60# set of dumbells from WalMart for $20.84 (only available online)**. Then I had the thought, if I have to buy it online, I may as well get the best deal.
Anyone find any better deals than sixty pounds, two handles and four clips? What I don't know about the WalMart deal is if it comes with a case (cause that would be really convenient).
Jeff. (Needing to :db: )

Just keep in mind....they want $21.45 to ship it !!!
Proctorjc April 28th, 2004, 02:48 PM $21.45 for shipping!?! :d_eek: More expensive than the weights!
Bah! This healthy living thing is expensive. And hard.
I quit.

Okay. I'm back.
But no ideas about who might have a better deal (with less S&H costs?)? I know that Wal*Mart had a 40 pound kit in-store for $22.95 or so. Oh, I guess I've got something to say over in the sports folder, too... But anyway, uhm...
Let's hear it for that local sports team?
Jeff. (I gotta get outta here!)

Check out NY Barbells' selection of dumbbells (http://newyorkbarbells.tv/dumbells.html). They have everything, and good prices. I know their shipping is free for big stuff like squat racks; not sure on the db's.
ABguy April 28th, 2004, 07:20 PM I don't usually shop at Sears, but was in there on Sunday for some shop stuff and saw a darn good deal on a weight station.
It was a Weider, it had at least 5 stations, tons on weight, all the good stuff....legs, lat pull down, bench, row,....can't remember it all, but it was a heck of a lot of iron sitting there, and it must have be 9' x 9' in area. It was marked down $100....to $399.
If I had the room, and didn't already belong to a great gym, Ida jumped on that.
Man, I've seen alot of junk for a lot more $$$.
The pulleys rolled smooth and everything was finished really well.
I might have to clean out the garage this weekend and make some room....

I remember a few years back I purchased a cheapy weight set from wal-mart and it didn't come with an Olympic barbell. Damn thing was so light that when I took one of the 45lb plates off, the barbell flipped over and broke my bedroom window! :claplow:
