I had a brief question about muscle development. TO ask i need to provide a little information. I am around 73 inches tall, and around 165 pounds. Although ive never had it formally tested, i think i have around 13 percent body fat (it seems in my arms that i have alot less than in other places but, i m sure thats how these things go).
I noticed on the picture gallery thread that people have divided abs when they are decreasing weight. when i flex i seem to have just one ab, i can feel the division when im doing crunches but when i stand up it isnt divided anymore.
Is this mean that i wont have abs if i do the right stuff.
Sorry if this is hard to read as english isnt my primary language.

You'll most likely need to be sub 10% before you can start too see any differeniation between them non flexed.

No, every ab is subdivided, that's genetic. To get yours to pop out more you need to exercise them to get them bigger. The way to do that is to hit them like you would any muscle...once a week, heavy weight with an incline. Oh, and dont forget to train the obliques either. And you might as well add lower-back and core-spine exercises to help the abs grow

Yes and no... true you need to hit them hard... but as they say your six pack is made in the kitchen... you just make it better in the gym. Low BF is the only way your abs will show serious definition. Working them out hard will make it better, but the best abs in the world are probably behind some poor man's gut.

One thing to add is that the abdominal muscle is one muscle. The lower, mid, upper as well as left and right parts of the "six-pack" are all one muscle. It is tendons and other things that make it looks like the abdominal muscle is actually more than one muscle. So it is possible for some people's to be naturally more pronounced than others, because they may have more ligaments, cartilidge, etc. However it is also true that you typically don't see your abs really well until you get to a very low body fat percentage.

Everyone's look a little different due to genetics, but low BF and working them to pop a little will bring them out. Low bf% will generally be 8-9% to see the whole 9. You'll smell them around 10%.
Good luck!
