Hi all, new here :) Been checking the forums for a while and decided to start working out since I was WAY out of shape. Its been 2 weeks now so ive decided to post for the first time.

First of all, my story. Ive always been kind of fat, but around 2000-2001 I started gaining a LOT of weight. In 2002 I was at 109kg (240 lb) so I decided to change and started a diet. It went on until around september 2003 when I went to another city to study and live with 2 friends of mine. From around may 2002 to September 2003 I went from 240 lb to 165-168lb. It took me a long time, but keep in mind I was just dieting and did NO workout.

Here are the first pics:

And me in 2003 and first months of 2004:

Even though I wasnt eating very healthy I didnt really gain that much weight. Maybe due to the fact I wasnt eating much. Anyway, in August this year I went back home and for the whole summer ive been eating quite a lot, so I gained some weight.

I then stumbled into these forums and decided to do something about it. So I signed up to the gym, started on my diet again and here I am. Its been 2 weeks now and I can see and feel im doing progress.

Here is how I started:

I havent really lost weight since I started on the gym, im right on 176 lb since I started, but maybe its because I think im also gaining some muscle. So, I thank you all for motivating me to start getting in shape and I hope to be posting my progress regularly in here.

Good luck with the plan, I definitely see some progress in the last 2 pics.

Remember to eat enough to keep as much of your muscle as posible even if it makes your weightloss go slower.

First of all congrats on your first acomplishment. Going down fron 204 to 176 is something that shows your commitment to your plan. But it also leads the foundations to a dramatic change in your body. I understand that you lost that much weight only dieting. That means that you will benefit from huge "newbie gains" by incorporating intense workouts to your schedule. I just want you to realize that today you are in a "once in a lifetime" position to change your body. My piece of advice is that you do some research, so you donŽt skip this opportunity, but, at least make sure to follow this guidelines: GOAL SETTING: Write down your goals and set a deadline. DIET: Make sure you calculate your daily caloric intake according to your goals (most of us understimated our caloric intake at the beginning, especially when coming out of a severe diet) EXERCISE: Weight lifting is a MUST, whether your goals are either cutting or bulking up. Make your workouts short and intense. Aerobics are recommended for cutting and/or cardiovascular improvement. RESTING: Is as important as the other factor, doŽnt skip it. TRACKING: Get your stats tracked periodically (The most important one is bodyfat).
Best of lucks for the journey you just begun and if you need detailed info let us know. WeŽre all here to help each other
