I recently bought a barebones incline bench. The previous owner lost the peg(s) that holds the bench up, so right now I can only use it flat. I was thinking of going to Home Depot and buying some rebar to replace the peg. Do you think it would be safe? Any better suggestions?

instead of using rebar i would say to get either cold or hot rolled steel bar... this is stronger than rebar and you can get it in several different diameters. i hope this helps.

Try to find the galvanized pipe at Home Depot. It's the stuff you can make home pullup bars out of. It's really strong, comes in a variety of sizes, and is pretty cheap. Maybe you can find some that fits.

I'd think that any reasonably thick piece of metal tube/pipe that you buy from HD would be more than strong enough to take the stress of an average person on their bench. If you can get a piece of metal with the ribs on them, then it will help in making sure that it doesn't fly out mid-set. That would be bad.

With whatever type of piping or support you find, here's what you should do:

See if they have a stronger version for a few bucks more. Your safety is worth it!
