escher September 26th, 2004, 02:21 AM First, congrats on posting your pics. Thats a excellent first step. You've made progress! Dont get discouraged.. Its a start! Just because you dont see a change in the photos, doesnt mean there isnt change!
Its important to stick to a diet plan. You said yourself its not so good. That will make a world of difference. YOU are in control of what you eat. It might be hard to eat different then your friends, or family if necessary, but you can do it! It doesnt have to be expensive. Eat lots of chicken breasts, and vegtables. Eat lots of eggs which are very cheap. Fast food is far more expensive than eating healthy. When you go out with your friends and get fast food, there HAS to be something you can order that isnt terrible for you! Instead of getting the big mac, perhaps get a grilled chicken sandwich. You can ditch the bread, mayo to make it more healthy. Skip the super sized fries and soda. Get water instead, and drink a LOT Of water throughout the day. Have a container of it, and be drinking from it constantly.... you'll put down a gallon a day no problem! Watch the saturated fats, sugars, carbs, and calories. Dont starve yourself though.. your body will realize this, and shut down your metabolism. Keep excercising, and eat lots of clean foods. Keep us updated on your progress!! Keep it up! :tu:

TaxiTodd September 26th, 2004, 07:29 PM For my first 6 weeks I simply cut out fried greasy foods, sugary snacks and drank more water. If you drink 2 cans of Coke a day, make one of them a diet coke, or 2 Coke C2's / Pepsi Edge with splendor. If you get stuck buying fast food get the low carb type wraps most fast food places are offering minus the dressing / mayo.

Very good tips. When I first started my journey, I started with portion control. I lost 25 lbs this way. Anytime I went out to eat I just ordered the smallest thing they had, never super sized and always drank diet cokes. If the portions were bigger than I liked, I would not eat everything on my plate. This was difficult because as a kid growing up I was always forced to clean my plate and not waste any food.
Another good tip is simply food substition. In your cooking, start using brown rice instead of white rice. The price is not that much different. Use sugar free jellies and syrups instead of regular. Fat free cheeses and mayos instead of regular. You can cut out a lot of calories by making little incremental changes, plus learning to wean yourself off of the other stuff.

Then you need to start cooking for your self, or have a talk with your mom..
BamaDave September 28th, 2004, 11:28 AM Good job on the weight loss!! A big difference after only one month.
I don't think mom's meat-n-rice will kill you -- you are young. But you can make better choices when out with friends. Most fast food places now offer healthier selections.
Track your calories as best as you can and keep exercising, and you will shape up quickly. And do as best as you can on the diet. It will get easier when you no longer live at home.

Then you need to add the exercise "push aways" to your routine. You Push Away the plate when you're half way done.
