Firstly,

Thanks for all the advice and help everyone has contributed to my workouts, diets, angst etc. over the months.

Another question regarding bulking.

I am about to start bulking after cutting for a year.
I love my early morning runs before breakfast, I've read that you should reduce cardio during the bulking stage. How much should I reduce or can I keep the early morning run as part of my routine. I usually run 30 mins at about 7.5 minutes a mile. Occasionally I do a HIIT session 20 mins 1 minute sprint 1 minute recovery. As winter approaches i do tend to reduce running to twice a week. Would that be ok?

Thanks in advance.

Cardio while bulking is OK. Your morning run of 30 mins is fine but keep your heart rate at 60-70% of your Max (moderate intensity). I would skip the HIIT sessions. HIIT is harder on your muscles and you're trying to build muscle - not destroy it.

I think that as long as you don't overdo it you should be ok doing cardio while bulking. I've read that for some people it is actually beneficial because it makes them more hungry when they are doing cardio work regularly, so maybe you'll actually be eating more.

I've totally dropped cardio in fear of muscle catabolism :( I'm going to have to take a break to run in winter weather though. I love cold weather and running in it.

All I can say is that a slow bulk is preferable than a fast one. It's a lot more fun to pile in food and forget cardio, but by the time you've put a bit of muscle on you'll end up having to fast away tons of fat. I would keep cardio in to a good extent...
