Hi there everyone... Can anyone list most of the common foods that should be avoided in order to keep a healthy diet? And what do you think of having one cheat meal a day, let's say a pudding or a cake in the afternoon?

I try not to eat:
donuts
french fries
chips
pork ribs
or anything with large amounts of saturated or trans fats
I try to limit:
cake, cookies
ice cream
cheese
red meat
white bread
white rice
white potatoes
sugar
Here's what the experts recommend. Never eat the foods in this list (http://www.domesticgear.com/articles/tenfoods.html) or this list (http://www.cspinet.org/nah/10foods_bad.html)

I like to stay away from the following ingredients:
ANYTHING "enriched"
High fructose corn syrup
Partially hydrogenated oil
I carefully consume the following
fats
sugars
The grain products I consume are always "whole grain".
I heard a really cute saying today regarding meats. Eat more of things that swim or fly and less of things that walk.
That about sums it up for me.

Wow! Thanks man, that was really helpful, I could really use that info... but, what if I eat once a day the food in your "TRY TO LIMIT" list, I hope it doesn't have much side effect, cause I really love bread and I'm kinda bored with whole wheat loaf, so sometimes I buy breads I see on the stall,... is that ok?

For me the general rules are :
o The less ingredients something has, the better.
o The more processed the food, the worse it is.
o Do not eat anything with trans fats (partially hydrogenated soybean (or other) oil, aka vegetable shortening, aka margarine).
o Try not to eat much of anything that has most of its calories come from processed sugars. (That includes cakes/cookies/candy/chocholate unfortunately.)
o Try not to eat food with high GI, unless it is for recovery after training. (White bread, white rice, potatoes, bleached/enriched flour, processed sugars.)
o Try not to eat too much sodium.
o Try to eat fruit every day.
o Try to eat vegetables every day.
o Eat whole grain breads (rye is also good), eat brown rice.
o Try not to eat too much saturated fats. This is mostly because they have lots of calories and they are not too helpful.
