View Full Version : Who makes sushi?
taffer Sun, September 19th, 2004, 02:12 AM i just had my first go at making some sushi, if you get the rice right, its pretty easy!
just wondering if anyone else makes their own? its tons cheaper than buying it, and it still tastes great if you make it yourself
i think its a pretty healthy food, i mean white rice only really has a GI of about 65, and it doesnt really lack too many nutrients (only small amounts) the only bad thing is that you have to add 3.5table spoons of sugar per 2 cups(uncooked) which really doesnt matter!
then you put in the salmon and avocado, and its a tasty, nutritious meal! good protein, carbs and healty fats

love the stuff, my gf and I make vege versions plus some of the fish with nice and spicy bits...
take it you have a rolling mat ? :eat:
DingoWallaby Sun, September 19th, 2004, 05:17 PM How do you guys make sure the fish is, uh, suitable? I know in Sushi restaurants they're specially frozen to kill parasites, but I'm afraid of getting worms if I just buy it from like Safeway.
taffer Sun, September 19th, 2004, 06:57 PM i goto the market, i goto an asian fishmonger, and they have the right stuff, they also skin it for you (which the other places dont!), but im pretty sure just a good sushi fillet will do though
yep i got a rolling mat, i made the rice really well to, nice and sticky!
yesterday we had 10 nori sheets, today we have 0.... we got left over rice, we must have cooked at least 800g of rice
i had 2 whole rolls to myself for lunch :D sushi is my fav food right now!
Siscoe Sun, September 19th, 2004, 07:37 PM I realized after a while that I liked the wasabi and soy combo more than the actual sushi. Now I cook up some basmati white rice, toss in some salmon or tuna, add some wasabi and soy, and eat it with a fork.
It's not sushi, but it's the best post lift protein/carb meal on the planet.
