View Full Version : Reality TV - Average Joe/The Apprentice
JaxConrad February 8th, 2004, 04:16 PM Anyone watching these shows. I'm addicted to both at the mo! :D
I love The Apprentice. I think the Queer Eye guys need to make over Trump though :) . Whats up with THAT hair! I love that they mixed up the teams this week, if they'd carried on as it was, it would have been an all women show. BTW, how funny would it be if the brought Sam back as a twist.
Also what the hell is going on with Average Joe tomorrow? According to last weeks preview, the guys blow up the boat or something with Tony and Larissa on it

Yeah, unfortunately I have to say that I'm watching both of those shows. :p Average Joe, is just awesome. Soon to be two girls, right? Blonde vs. brunette. It kinda sucks that all the in-shape guys are jackasses, but that's the show. I saw that boat thing. That is so weird. I'm figuring that the guy in the boat who paints and stuff, he's probably gonna win in the end. He needs to lose the weird facial hair.
The aprentice is pretty interesting, the editing is a little annoying in that they don't give you a true idea of how each team is doing during the competition so its a surprise at the "Boardroom". In the flee market show, the one team killed the other, it would have been nice to see that. Oh well it's only reality tv can't ask for much.
It would be funny to see a reality fat loss show. Take a bunch of out of shape people who want to shape up. Stick'm in a house and have them follow a the program. These shows last like 12 weeks so people could change a lot. There would be funny fights. "Hey you're using my protien shaker again!"

ITA. I'd like to see Tony win. While one or two of the good looking guys seem okay, you just have to wonder if there putting on an act. Its like Larissa's date with Troy? last week .. where he was saying all the right things .. seems to good to be true. Felt pity for Theo though. I know he sort of dug his own grave a little, but I think he was a good guy at heart. I even got chocked up myself when he was doing his bit to camera :o

I guess we'd lose the 'drama' of who's going to the boardroom if it was obvious whos going to win. I wonder how long it will be before they get individual challenges?

That would be cool. Especially if they couldn't leave the house .. they could do one of these body transformation programs (like BFL, etc). I'd definately watch!
gravityhomer February 9th, 2004, 08:59 AM Yeah, I'd really like to see a fat loss show. It would make good television. It has everything a reality show requires. There would be nudity as people would take daily photos. This would be more appealing towards the end of the show so they wouldn't concentrate on it at first. ;) You could have weekly physical challenges, where if they win they get to meet famous sports or fitness people. And as they improve the challenges get harder. There could be famous trainers on the show. To be on the show, you would have to have a BF% over a certain amount. And the person who drops the most relative fat pounds and gains the most lean mass wins. There couldn't be any alcohol though, which most shows need. But it could still work. People will be stressed out about being on a strict diet and this will provide all the drama you need.
I must have missed the last Average Joe, who is Theo again and how did he screw up. I thought I had seen them all, but I just don't remember their names so maybe I did see it.
Geed February 9th, 2004, 10:51 AM Hey, cliveyG, speaking of TV shows... are you related to Ali G by chance?? :D ... just kidding. Anyway, have you seen his show or know about him. I can't believe some of the questions he asks his quests. Sooo funny!

Ha ha, no relation to Ali G I'm afraid. He's funny though.

Theo (http://www.nbc.com/nbc/Average_Joe:_Hawaii/new_theo.shtml) is one of the 'hunks'. If you remember he was on a date with Larissa a few weeks back, he mentioned that one of the Hunks had refered to her as a 'hot beaver' and that she shouldn't trust them. Then when Todd was on his date with Larissa this week, she asked him if it was him that had said the beaver comment. Anyway, he obviously went back and told the guys that Theo had told Larrisa, so then Michael C (http://www.nbc.com/nbc/Average_Joe:_Hawaii/new_michael_c.shtml) (the one who actually said it) had a go at Theo and then told all the Joe's about the cartoon picture that Theo had drawn mocking the Average Joes on the night of the Hunks arrival. With the hunks ignoring Theo (for backstabbing them) and the Joes upset at him for mocking them, he starts getting chocked up and upset saying how he was bullied in school like the Joes and that he was more like them than the hunks... and never meant the cartoon strip in a nasty way... then later, just before the eliminations, in front of Larissa, Michael C fessed up to making the beaver comment, but at the same time, dropped Theo in the sh*t, by telling Larrisa about the cartoon strip mocking the Joes. .. after that, she obviously didn't trust him and hewas elimiated with 5 others!
gravityhomer February 9th, 2004, 09:06 PM Hahaha, reality is awesome. Theo was such a tool for tattling. yeah I missed that one, well, I'll catch up tonight.

Hey, did you see Monday's episode. It was wicked cool (as the Joe who works for the Homeland security would say). How cool was the whole boat thing. I still can't believe they blew up/sunk the boat. :claplow: I loved when Tony and Larissa where huddling after getting out of the water and she was like "who ever did this this is going"..and then Tony's little rant at the house. Of course it didn't quite happen, because she kept Michael C, but I so glad she got rid of the other Michael. He was such a idiot. He didn't even have the common sense to lie and say he wouldn't do it all over again :D (duh!). So who do we reckon will be the final two? I think it’s a dead cert that Tony will be the last man standing with the Joes and for now I'd say Gil from the new guys, but I guess it could all change, especially after the preview for next weeks episode (could they have any more twists on this show.)!!
taffer February 11th, 2004, 05:25 PM has anyone seen that "fat club" show, im pretty sure they show it in the UK and here in aus (not prime time :p)
most of the "nutritional experts" know nothing about good diet
they described a pizza as having a "good carb base" when its a horribly high-GI carb!
also one of them said nuts are too high in fat
but its still pretty funny watching them do stupid exercises all day when you know they could do it alot easier!
gravityhomer February 11th, 2004, 06:37 PM Hey, did you see Monday's episode. It was wicked cool (as the Joe who works for the Homeland security would say). How cool was the whole boat thing. I still can't believe they blew up/sunk the boat. :claplow:
i saw it, but was slightly procupied by my newly revived injury which is still killing me.
Oh that was such a classic setup. Really awesome. Who could not push a button presented to them, especially on a show like that where you are already feeling surreal about the whole experience. They were really dense about the message that came with the detonator, "all is fair in love and war", what the hell did they think that would mean. They had to know it would screw things up. i think this has really cemented Tony and larissa, first the painting and then saving it.
But you know i just can't see her going for that weird facial hair what the hell is up with that. Anyway it would be a classic fox setup for it to go all Tony's way up until the end when she picks that one guy, michael, who didn't go home even thought he pushed the button.
i don't know, that's my prediction. in these reality shows they can edit them to show any story they want, and the fact that Tony is the obvious front runner right now, just makes me think more that he's not gonna win. They need a twist at the end right, that's what they always go for. And if the actual twist wasn't there when they filmed, it (like maybe she obviously likes one of the hunks more), they just manufacture a twist by focusing on Tony this whole time and then bam she chooses someone else.
Oh well, what mindless entertainment.
JaxConrad February 19th, 2004, 05:30 AM Well Monday's show was a bit of a shocker. I can't believe she got rid of Tony! Although I have to admit, after the comment she made about him not getting over the whole boat sinking thing, I figured he perhaps wasn't as safe as I assumed he was.
Awesome episode though. I loved the whole Larrisa made up to look like her mom. The bit when she ripped the mask off was like friggin Misson Impossible. :claplow: and the look on the guys faces was classic!
So who's she gonna pick? It so has to be one of the hunks at this point, I really can't see her with Fredo and Brian. If you notice she's not shy with slipping in the tounge when she's kissing the hunks (and Tony), but with all the others, including Fredo and Brain, its only ever a sweet tender kiss on the lips or a peck on the cheek.
Funny thing was, I was convinced it would be down to Michael and Tony at the beginning of this weeks show, especially as she had a really great date with Michael. Amazing how things change so quickly. So who's it going to be Gil or James? My money is on Gill!
gravityhomer February 19th, 2004, 11:16 AM I knew tony wouldn't win, because they were playing it up as him being the one in the lead. but I thought he would go further. That was funny when she said that he wouldn't stop talking about the boat sinking. That really showed that he has nothing else to talk to her about. Outside of their art, they probably don't have anything in common. tony just doesn't seem like a fun-loving guy. I was surprised by Michael leaving, but that was an awesome setup with the whole mom thing. Michael almost attempted to talk his way out of his mistake (again!), but the hidden cameras showed the truth.
Now we have Jim who she has told she has a crush on. I feel this again might be too obvious a signal at this point, because he is now the favored winner. I agree the average joes are pretty much out of it at this point. There is a slim chance that Fredo could take it, but I just really don't see her going for him. Brian's got no shot. The two of them together just looks so wrong. So that leaves gill, who they have made a point of looking shy so far and not having that great of a relationship with Larissa. I agree with you. My prediction, is that this guy is going to win. he will have really good dates over the next few days. He'll start having more fun with Larissa, and then she'll feel like she's getting the whole package.
She will realize Jim is just a crush and they don't actually have much in common.
well there's my prediction. Will see how it goes.
