Hi gang, I hope someone can provide some suggestions.

I just started a new job and I have been off my diet and exercise for the last 2 weeks (after working out for 8 weeks solid)

Getting into a new routine, I have over an hour during lunch so I joined a new gym and and worked out there a few times.

My question is about nutrition, does anyone else have a lunchtime eating routine?

I have my mid-morning snack around 10:30, then I go to workout at around, 12:15 to 1pm. I then shower and return to work around 1:30.
Then have a PWO protein drink, then wait an hour to eat lunch at 2:30.

I did this today and I was starving at 12:15 and felt weak, so I skipped my workout entirely and ate instead.

Does anyone else have a lunchtime eating routine, what do you do?

thanks

Something is wrong with your 10:30 meal. You called it a snack but if you are trying to eat every 3-4 hours then you should not be hungry at 12:15 if you ate at 10:30.

For general sluggishness try caffine (I take pills) 1hr before the workout and 12-16 oz gatorade (or equivalent) 20 mins before you start. The assumes that you have a decent meal at 10:30 and still feel sluggish rather than hungry.

Thanks for the replies.

I remember reading that after your PWO drink you need to wait an hour to give time for the protein to help restore muscle tissue. Perhpas I'll try to eat sooner and see if there is any problems.

I think thats a great idea of having a "large" snack at 10:30 and then a "light" lunch afterwards. I'll try that and see how it goes.

I wait 30-45 mins after my PWO shake and then have a slightly lighter meal than normal since I've had 200-300 cal from the shake+glucose I figure there is no point in adding anouther 500+ cal immediately afterwards. How much difference it really makes, I'm not sure, but I'd try to wait 15-30 mins if you can after the shake. Having energy for lifting is definitely important. Eating regularly after the PWO shake is much more important than stuffing down 'large' quanities of calories immediately.
