In the past I have tried to prepare my meals for the week plan. Well, here's my question. If I was to cook lets say about 6 chicken breasts on sunday night, and say that I stored them away properly in the refrigerator, how long before they go bad.

I might need to add, I am extremely paranoid when it comes to chicken. I over cook it and I throw it out if its been in the fridge for more than a couple of days. Am I just wasting perfectly good PROTEIN?

Thanks

My wife makes a big pot of chicken soup in a pressure cooker and I eat the chicken for a week. I don't know if it is good that long, but it taste great all 7 days.

You could also cook it and freeze it cooked.

You'd just have to thaw it. It's still pretty good this way too.

72 hours maximum in a home fridge. I don't care if you still think it tastes okay beyond that, it's most likely 'turned' at that point and can make you sick.

You really should lose the overcooking habit. It's done when the juices run clear, or once it reaches about 170 F (which generally takes about 40 minutes at 350 F for thick chicken breasts). I can't stand dry chicken. Juicy, edible chicken is the way to go (otherwise, I'd rather eat the insulation in my walls).

And yes, you can cook it and freeze it. Soup also freezes easily (just keep the noodles out if you don't like the mushiness).
