Hi All,

I'm drinking Proteins+ whey protein isolate in chocolate flavour with 1 tbsp peanut butter and water. However, this is a rather gross tasting mixture, especially since the peanut butter doesn't dissolve well (I'm guessing due to its fat content) in water even after I shake the hell out of the bottle.

Any suggestions on how to make it taste better? I just recently bought a blender today.

Thanks! :tu:

you could try making it in milk. Adding some splenda might also make it a little sweeter. And a banana always tastes good with chocolate and PB. One other thing, if this is your post workout shake, it may be best to avoid fats altogether, because assuming you are eating consuming some sort of insulin-spiking carb, you don't really want all that insulin to go to work storing fat from peanut butter.

Well, if you give it long enough, natural peanut butter separates. If you can catch it while it's still good then you can skim off a whole bunch of fat  Then you can just use the nut part for flavouring.

Just a theory... I forget how long my natural peanut butter took to separate (when I was at college. Favourite creature comfort foods got rotated between 'eaten every day' and 'sitting on the shelf for months') I do remember it still being good after I whipped it up again, though.

As for flavour overall, in cooking the better foods are a blend of flavours and their enhancements. Something that's just sweet or just spicy or just sour or just salty doesn't taste as good as something that has a combination of those.

Banannas and fresh fruit work best. Also try some natural sugar like honey.
