Thanks A. That gives me an answer, but I was looking for a formula that I could plug some figures into including heart rate, weight, and gender. rtestes September 7th, 2004, 07:22 PM Thanks A. Never seen one, when you find it, report back. :gl: Flex September 8th, 2004, 10:00 PM Here is a formula I found. I don't know if this is what you meant or not but here it is. This Harris-Benedict forumula uses the factors of height, weight, age, and sex to determine basal metabolic rate (BMR). This equation will be very accurate in all but the extremly muscular (will underestimate calorie needs) and the extremly overfat (will overestimate caloric needs). Men: BMR = 66 + (13.7 X wt in kg) + (5 X ht in cm) - (6.8 X age in years) Women: BMR = 655 + (9.6 X wt in kg) + (1.8 X ht in cm) - (4.7 X age in years) Note: 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters 1 kilogram = 2.2 lbs. Once you know your BMR, you can calculate TDEE by multiplying your BMR by the following activity factor. Activity factor Sedentary = BMR X 1.2 (little or no exercise, desk job) Lightly active = BMR X 1.375 (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/wk) Mod. active = BMR X 1.55 (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk) Very active = BMR X 1.725 (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days/wk) Extr. Active = BMR X 1.9 (hard daily exercise/sports & physical job or 2 X day training, marathon, football camp, contest, etc.) This is the closest thing I can find that will tell you how many calories you are burning depending on your weight, height, age, sex, and amount of activity. Hope this helps! jesse1 September 9th, 2004, 03:01 PM Here is a formula I found. I don't know if this is what you meant or not but here it is. Hope this helps! Thanks for all that work. That is almost what I am looking for, but not quite. The calorie counter on my elliptical is not working and I wanted a formula to determine how many calories I was burning durning my cardio workout based on my heart rate, weight, duration, etc. jrfisher September 9th, 2004, 03:54 PM I have never heard of a formula for what you're looking for. When I ride my bike, I use this website to estimate how many calories I burn. It puts into fact your age and weight, so it's pretty accurate. http://www.healthstatus.com/cbc.html It also has a lot of other activities such as sports and even everyday household chores. jesse1 September 9th, 2004, 06:30 PM I have never heard of a formula for what you're looking for. This will do just fine. :tu: Most of the calculators I found didn't have ellipticals as an activity so I had to try and find something that resembled the output. |
