During my fat loss diet, I'm doing fasted cardio in the morning. However, some mornings I will be playing 2 hours of hockey (and I will have to leave my house about an hour before that to step on the ice on time). What should I eat before this? Is it all right to play fasted? What worries me is the time I'd be going from wakeup to my first meal.

i think one should always eat 1-2hour(s) before training. especially when playing hockey, can be quite demanding i guess, you should eat beforehand.

breakfast should be a very solid meal, around 400calories. be sure to get in enough protein and the rest is up to you i think...as long as you eat something healthy. oats never hurt.
for breakfast i eat 40g protein, 40g carbs and 6-7g fat. carbs coming mostly from oats, protein coming from curd/cottage cheese and protein powder for taste.

Playing sports puts a lot of demands on your body and if you play in a fasted state your performance will be less than optimal.

Playing hockey for 2 hours will require fule. I'm not a nutrition expert but I do know that carbs are fule. So I would eat a high carb breakfast about an hour before you hit the ice. Maybe some oatmeal or wheat bread with peanut butter on it. I would say experiment with some different foods and see which one increases performance on the ice. Maybe and egg sandwich on wheat.

I would make sure that you eat something. If you don't everyone else will be rippin' up and down the ice while you'll be sitting on the bench gassed.

i'd suggest a good source of protein, such as chicken or beef, mixed with some complex carbs, oats+milk are a good choice, you could also go some rice too!

If I have an early game or practice I try to eat alot of carbs the night before. That way I already have got my muscles fileld up :)
and have some oats in the morning.

I also like to eat pasta in the morning. Lots of carbs per gram, importat for me who have problem eating alot in the morning.

like ARM said carbs are the best fuel for sports.
