It took me 8 months of counting calories to figure this out, but I have finally found something that seriously makes the job easier on the desire side.
Protein.
I find that if I have something like Kipper Snacks or Sardines for a meal instead of equivalent carbohydrate calories, I am far less food-centered over the next few hours. 100 calories of protein supplement in-between meals makes things easier too.
The thing to avoid from a desire standpoint seems to be real sugary stuff. That fills me up more initially, but it doesn't do much long term.
I have also heard that calcium helps for this sort of thing. I'm thinking of experimenting. Any good calcium source recommendations?
