Hey everyone
i had stopped cardio and weights for about 2 months...now this is my second week back into weights and running...i think i was too hard on my legs...not only did i start sprinting but i worked the calves with weight (shin lifts if thats what its called)..now my calves are sore as hell...yesterday i just ran a slow mile (12 min) just to stay loose...How can get over this soreness quickly? Is it good to rest my legs, or keep at it? And this isnt light soreness, its quite painfull..like if i have been still and sittin down for an hour i can barely walk right, legs get real tight...thanks, any input will be great.

Rest, stretching, and low-intensity cardio are best for sore leg muscles. This is from experience, so I have no actual links for you to peruse. I find that if I stretch AFTER a workout sufficiently, I won't be nearly as sore as if I didn't. During low-intensity cardio, apprently your body actually burns off some of that lactic acid as fuel for your workout IIRC, but this is just what I've heard. I don't remember if it's from my personal training studying, Men's Health, or on these forums. Hope I helped rather than confused!

I hear you on the cardio... whenever my legs feel like junk I go for a nice moderately long but slow jog. I always feel better.

Try a cup of epsom salt in a hot bath. Soak for at least 20 minutes. Also tiger balm is a good muscle rub.
